For what it's worth, Colorado State played a slow tempo last year. 270th in tempo, against our 47th. So that might put some of Evans' stats in a little bit different context. It's not a huge factor, but it's not nothing -- they had about 7.5% fewer possessions per game. So multiply his aggregate stats by 7.5% to get an apples to apples comparison.

Instead of 10.9 ppg, he would be closer to 12. 3.1 apg becomes about 3.4. Not mind-blowing differences, but a little bit.
That is a/could be double-edge sword though, will he thrive in a more up-tempo offense or is he more comfortable in a slower style?

FT shooting
3 inches taller
....

Yeah, he's not the play maker that EC is but he's definitely an upgrade shooting the ball. He has some sneaky athleticism and his A/TO ratio was solid. We've taken a step back "talent" wise from IJ/EC but may be a better team because of it.

Our starting heights may be:

6'2
6'3
6'9
6'10
7'0

Taller across the board, could be a really dynamic defensive team. Going to have offensive issues IMO but maybe play a bit more disciplined. I see us as a likely tournament team with sweet 16 upside, not a standard UNC team but hopefully better than this past year.

I don't see how you can look at a backcourt of Evans/Trimble and not rate it as a significant step down from last year. What are y'all seeing that get's you excited about an Evans/Trimble backcourt? (I want to share in the excitement.)
Well, Trimble should be better. Since our backcourt last year was RJ/Trimble/EC, one of those parts should be better.

Evans = shooting. We need shooting. That alone should make some impact. And I think people are excited about the front court.

I don't know. Wait and see what happens. By the way, I like that guy at BYU that we're supposed to get.

Some times the sum of parts is better or worse than the individual pieces. Here’s hoping this group brings a harder edge to the court (and makes more shots).

I hope somebody has a harder edge. Trimble is tough enough but the wrong personality type.

If Trimble plays every game like he did against Dayton we'll be fine...

Has this been posted here yet? I heard in the radio this afternoon.

“According to On3 insider Jamie Shaw ($), while St. John's is the presumed favorite for Jackson in the portal but the Red Storm and Rick Pitino aren't alone. The other prime contender looming is the rival NC State Wolfpack, a program that Shaw said is "worth paying attention to" in the race.”

Yes, they could be better than EC/RJ, anything can happen.

Tyson to the portal. Heard he was 50/50 early on. Don't know if Jarin Stevenson/Kanon Catchings has anything to do with that. WIll ask in the morn.

The only problem is if you say that Trimble next year should be a slight upgrade over Trimble last year, that means you’re comparing RJ/Cadeau to Evans plus the freshmen. That seems like a slight step up offset by a likely large step down.
