My take away from those numbers is that elite American universities are just that -- the absolute best training grounds in the world for those who can access them. I have no doubt whatsoever that the remarkable thawing of relations and economic prosperity between the US and China over the last 50 years is directly correlated with the ability of brilliant Chinese students to access US universities. This is a global world, and before this past January, the US was in prime position to be its fulcrum point for the next 100+ years.

Alas, the racists and xenophobes who now dominate the GOP fucked that all to hell.

I watch a lot of LPGA golf and practically every great European player was on scholarship at a US university. Free education, free training, and a lot of fun often at a public university. I know coaches need to win to keep their jobs but you know. At the same time other countries have HS academies to train their citizens these in these sports.

American universities are the greatest drivers of innovation, cultural assimilation, and upward economic mobility that have ever existed in the history of the anthropomorphic world.

I will never understand why MAGA would want to do ANYTHING to undermine our university system, unless the goal is to return us to something approximating our primordial roots.
