But...on the other hand, Musk is sending in teams from SpaceX to analyze and recommend technology upgrades for the control towers to bring these systems out of the 1980's Atari technology. This will undoubtedly make air traffic control safer with, most likely, less personnel.
I have no first hand knowledge, but indeed I have also heard that air traffic control is running on Atari technology. However, it seems as if the better approach would be to upgrade the technology and then draw down employees. For example, my company is feverishly automating our manufacturing processes, but we aren't gonna fire all of our labor now; we will taper it as automation comes on-line. That is a pretty common sense approach. Unfortunately, either Trump is a fucking idiot or he doesn't give a damn about consequences.

A team from SpaceX is being brought in to overhaul FAA’s air traffic control system

The visit comes after a union representing FAA workers says hundreds are being laid off.

“… Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, is playing a key role in the mass terminations from his perch at the Department of Government Efficiency. And as critics have noted, Musk’s status as a major government contractor — mostly through his company SpaceX — represents a massive conflict of interest that both he and President Donald Trump have repeatedly attempted to downplay.

… Duffy also dismissed criticism about opening the door to a Musk-led team to another sensitive area of the federal government.

“Because I know the media (and Hillary Clinton) will claim Elon’s team is getting special access, let me make clear that the @FAANews regularly gives tours of the command center to both media and companies,“ Duffy said. (Clinton has previously criticized the DOGE team’s lack of experience.) …”

So DOGE is just taking a public tour, kind of like the J6 tourists?

Gullible

For those with upcoming travel - I’m currently recommending pushing scheduled flights back to at least 2029.

So they're firing people who did their job right to give money to SpaceX?

Seems legit.
