I said if they happen to miss it again next season. It seemed you were saying he should be kept no matter what the results are.

That just seemed to me you were saying he shouldn't be fired if he averaged 25 wins. Maybe that's not how you meant it.

Immeant that other coaches might not want to dive into that situation and there might be a few AA players who did not think Hubert got a fair shake. Those are real considerations but Roberts will not shrink from his duty. Issue is what happens if we make tourney and early exit. Anyone paying attention to Kansas, UConn, hell. NC state. Lots of teams struggling in this new age.

Well because I think I know the why we struggled this year, which was we did not buy a big. There were multiple bigs we went after but didn't get, and I don't think it is in dispute that money was an issue. This team was incredibly flawed and I am ok with some of that being on Hubert. But I believe we will spend money and build a roster that can compete so failure will be more easily pinned on Hubert.

Oh, I thought the discussion was if it stays the same next year. Point being, if next year HD/staff strike out on a key position/player and the results are the same, do you think he should be given another year?
 
I'm done being critical of things. It's just too toxic. From now on I am just going to cheer for the team and leave it at that. It's not like criticizing the coaching is going to change things. And it's just basketball after all. A lot more important things going on now to be critical about than UNC basketball.

Feel like I have answered that several times. But if we miss the NCAA clearly no. Other scenarios could get murky which is reason for thread. Could be ugly.

In my mind, it would depend on why we missed. If it's the new GM, there'd be more slack than if it were traceable to Hubert. The record would still matter, of course but the portal responsibilities are not so much the same.

I still think that who we would get, possible roster effects and staff issues should matter. I'm a lot more hesitant to totally revamp the program with the future of the game so unsettled. Pretty sure I don't want to go DOGE on the basketball program.
 
Folks are not mad at Davis because of race.

Davis has missed the tournament twice in 4 years.

He missed the tournament with a team of Davis, Love, Black, Bacot, Nance, Trimble and Washington. That’s stunning

This year we have a top HS guard (Cadeau), a first team AA (Davis), top 10 recruits (Jackson and Powell) and undersized bigs but still experienced bigs. He did that in the worst ACC ever.

The offense is stagnant and unwatchable.

There is a racial element but I am not sure how significant. There were people in December of Hubert's first year who said we should have hired wes miller and I think that was driven somewhat by race. Miller supporters then don't mention him now. My point however is more about the Stephen A. Smiths and their reactions.

People wanted Miller because he had been a head coach with success. He clearly isn’t the answer either.
