I heard Hubert likes ketchup on his fries, which are ordered along with his hotdog all-the-way. (Chili, slaw. mustard and onions)
Is that also bad? Ketchup on fries...
A reason to fire Hubert perhaps?
Ketchup on fries is fine, but not mayonnaise. If he were putting mayo on his fries, that’s a one-way ticket to getting fired.

Yeah, that's how screwy this thread has become.

Win 2 in the ACC's
Win 2 in the NCAA's reaching the Sweet 16
Lose 3, finish 28-9

Very successful season given the injuries and probably all we could have hoped for even with Caleb, were he able to go today and finish out with us.

Hubert saddles up for season #6, after his fifth straight 20 win season.
Davis has earned another season but 20 win seasons are meaningless imo.

Ketchup goes in the burger and fries.
Mustard goes on the sausages.

It appears the fire Hubert debates will have to be put on hold until next season. Although an 0-3 finish might reignite them.
He’s safe. I said wait till the end of the season but the Caleb injury essentially is the end of the season. Even 0-3 would be fine given the circumstances.

But in some ways this season was the worst for everybody. It would have been better if he were terrible or elite. This was a show some signs of promise but ultimately incomplete type of year.

So, unfortunately, next year will start as a repeat of this year amongst the fanbase.

We'll never if a fully healthy team would have done elite things to finish the season.

Worst for everybody?? What a joke. I said a long time ago there would be “fans” secretly preferring a terrible season over a good or even very good (but not great) one, i.e. one that was *just enough* to make HD’s job safe.

Here’s the evidence.

What kind of fans are these??

I don't see how we go 0-3 the rest of the season.

We should win at least one in the ACC and at least one in the NCAA. A good seeding and we could be second weekend.

We may be an underdog against Clemson on a neutral court and it is possible we will be an underdog in our first NCAA game, depending on the opponent. The odds are good we will win at least one game, but would not be surprising if we did not.

It's certainly a possibility.

It's also a good season if HD learns something from it. He's not young, but i don't consider him a veteran coach, so he's still capable of turning over new leaves. This was a different team this yr, partly due to the twin towers, but partly due to the dev and reliance on a true frosh PG, and late in the yr having to rely on backups instead of Caleb (and even Veesar a few games).

So where does HD stand now? If 25 w's is the new cutoff standard (not 20) he's not there (yet) this season. The team has only done it 2 out of the other 4 seasons. If we lose first round NCAA's then that's 3 out of 5 seasons whereby UNC misses that mythical cut-off.

Plenty of discussion this year that since Hubert was on the proverbial hot-seat to start, a solid 25 wins and at least a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 appearance was a must to keep his job. Some said it had to be a FF appearance. I seriously doubt he gets FF or even Elite 8 and probably not a Sweet 16. At this point the team will be fortunate to get to the 25 win plateau and past the first round.

If the team loses first game next week, doesn't reach the 25 w's, ends the season on a 3 game losing streak, the consensus - if staying consistent with all the negative talk to start the season - has to be that he is gone.

But, the Caleb injury may mitigate that thinking.

I think the BOG holds sway over to renovate or to move the basketball arena. And they probably hold sway over Hubert's replacement. But do they have a say over when or if HD is retained or fired? Can they step in over the head of the AD and make that decision?

If we lose first round next week, is Hubert done, regardless of injuries?

Sure be a strong talking point for the people who want him gone. I'm not changing sides but I'm done arguing.

I doubt he is gone, even though I see nothing that shows the inconsistentcy and mediocrity won't continue. He will get at least one more season. I think next season will be worse if they don't get some Elite talent to replace Caleb and Henri. I don't think the freshmen they have coming in will be good enough to make up for them being gone.

My hunch is that the second Caleb injury, plus the overall performance of the team without Caleb & where we were when the team was healthy, will get HD another season.

Of course, that’s a hunch as the AD hasn’t said anything definitive about the standard HD was to meet this season to retain his job nor made any comment on how things are looking.

I proposed that scenario a couple of weeks ago and felt the same way then. I hadn't considered Caleb's second injury or that winning the double bye ( switch seeds and give us a game to get our tournament legs) would bite us. Still sticking with letting it go. Never was up to me anyway.
