Is it "Charlotte University" or "University of Charlotte"?Heels now coaching baseball and men's hoops at Charlotte.
My understanding is that their branding now just refers them as Charlotte. Just the one word name.Is it "Charlotte University" or "University of Charlotte"?
What: is WCU now gonna be "Cullowhee University"?
UNCW gonna just be "Wilmington" now?
Sorry, it was and shall ever be: "UNCC"

I’m going to advocate for WCU to now be known as “Whee U.”My understanding is that their branding now just refers them as Charlotte. Just the one word name.
I've always called it UNC-Pembroke.In related news, the UNC system school formerally known as Pembroke State is (has been for 30 years) actually named UNC, Pembroke.
University of North Carolina, Pembroke

I thought the Charlotte moniker was only for athletics and the degrees all still say UNC-Charlotte but I might have imagined that.My understanding is that their branding now just refers them as Charlotte. Just the one word name.
That's dumb.My understanding is that their branding now just refers them as Charlotte. Just the one word name.
That is correct. Ask a student where they go to school and they will tell you UNCC. There is no hyphen.I thought the Charlotte moniker was only for athletics and the degrees all still say UNC-Charlotte but I might have imagined that.
lol, I've never known it as anything other than UNC-Pembroke. You old, Don!In related news, the UNC system school formerally known as Pembroke State is (has been for 30 years) actually named UNC, Pembroke.
University of North Carolina, Pembroke

They are definitely still formally known as "University of North Carolina at Charlotte," the "Charlotte" thing is just branding.I thought the Charlotte moniker was only for athletics and the degrees all still say UNC-Charlotte but I might have imagined that.
The diploma has no hyphen. It is “University of North Carolina at Charlotte”They are definitely still formally known as "University of North Carolina-Charlotte," the "Charlotte" thing is just branding.
I was including their 9-16 season in 2021. I realize that pushes the time frame to 6 seasons but I couldn't resist. And it's not like we had a stellar season in 2021 either, but we did make the tourny (lost in the first round). Still, that's a lot better than 9-16. Anyway, it's all just quibbling. Outside our finals appearance in 2022, neither team has lived up to historic expectations. It just irked me that JW chose to call us out as not still being a blue blood based on recent performance while including UK, who at absolute best was basically the same as us over the past 5-6 years. That's what set me off...Not sure I agree with that. The last 5 years for each:
UK:
UNC:
- 2022: 2 seed, 1st round NCAAT
- 2023: 6 seed, 2nd round NCAAT
- 2024: 3 seed, 1st round NCAAT
- 2025: 3 seed, S16
- 2026: 7 seed, 2nd round NCAAT
You can definitely argue that our deep 2022 run compared with their embarrassing 1st round exits gives us the edge. But they've been the better team during the regular season across that period. I would honestly say both programs have been about the same, all things considered.
- 2022: 8 seed, title game
- 2023: missed tourney
- 2024: 1 seed, S16
- 2025: 11 seed, 1st round NCAAT
- 2026: 6 seed, 1st round NCAAT
hyphen removed, lolThe diploma has no hyphen. It is “University of North Carolina at Charlotte”
