Oh you can count on it. But the difference is I’d bet there won’t be anyone openly rooting for losses that would tip the balance in favor of their objective, as opposed to rooting for wins that would counter their objective.

Multiple posters who are currently very active on this thread admitted they’d rather see a poor end to the season that would cost HD his job as opposed to a just-passable one that saved it. People posting right now, who preferred Carolina lose games so it would help their case.

That, I’d bet, you won’t see.
I can think of one poster so certainly not as prevelant as you make it out to be.

I see it a bit differently and am considering who these posts are coming from.
fair. but that's only like 2 posters though, most of us are pretty reasonable.

i was fully in HD's corner until about midway through last season when i started to have doubts. still thought he should've gotten this season though and he did and i was on board with him staying again next year until the VCU game served as the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. 2024 was lovely, that he wasn't able to build or progress on that just wasn't good enough.

I think VCU gave the program the opening it needed to carry through with it. It would have been much tougher without the 0-3 finish.

thank you. didn't mean to sound like i was arguing with you that it had happened just wanted to know who was saying it.

that is ridiculous and obnoxious from bubba/UNC. but to your final point, i don't think that bubba has really had any say in either of the 2 recent major revenue sports hires. the idiot brigade hired BB and Roy picked HD.
I think it was an attempt at courtesy that gave false hope. Still problematic from an outsider's view.

yeah, we were never beating dook in the outhouse without caleb wilson but the way the clemson and VCU losses played out was a worst case scenario for HD.

Stevens is far from out unless you trust CBS so called sources more than UNC sources. Doesnt mean it will happen, but he is still 100% in play.
Again, Norlander is arguably the most well sourced CBB reporter out there. I 100% put more stock into this article than vague comments from anonymous insiders on IC.

No false hope pls!

I mean, how amazing would that be... but from an outside perspective it really makes no sense for him to take this job. I know very few people who would leave a great, highly-respected job for another job that requires more work.

It's not going to be Stevens.

I think that today is the day that I'm done with college sports. I'll still pay some attention, and probably post here about them some, but the joy is gone.
I hope it’s just a gut reaction and some spark comes back for you. But this is a position many people are gearing toward anyway, myself included. It’s never been just about the wins and losses (like it seems to be for many posters here), but about what they were built on.

The banners and jerseys will still be up there, but there’s just not much holding them up anymore.

And TJ Otzelberger or [insert random latest “hottest thing” coach] ain’t fixing that. This has never been just about keeping or firing HD, it’s a referendum on even giving a shit about something we used to love, that has been slowly fading from sight. And the substitute version may be inevitable but it’s artificial and hollow, and just doesn’t cut it. It’s a flimsy placeholder for what was.
