No faith in the chancellor. He may surprise me but that’s what it will be if he’s human about it.
Real hopeful he will leave up to his 2 ADs mostly
last time he stuck his nose in a coach search it got punched

If you do it correctly. Do you have faith in this administration to do that?

If Hubert resigned and had a desire to stay connected to the university would you be against that?
I find it much more likely than not that the University publicly treats him with dignity unless it becomes a protracted battle to have him leave the position. I'm guessing that everyone will play their role well and there will be a (publicly-)amicable agreement reached and HD will say great things about his time in CH and the PTB will say great things about him.

In terms of HD staying connected to the University, I think pretty much everyone would be in favor of that, although the details make all the difference here. I would expect that it would be in everyone's interested for there to be some period of time where there's no significant public relationship, but that doesn't mean he's to be sent off into exile and no one is allowed to ever mention him again. Let him stay in touch with his personal contacts over the next couple of years and then you can start to publicly reintegrate him into the University and the basketball program in some form.

A colleague has shared with me the following, which may or may not be relevant beyond crazed speculation but this is a person who might have some info.

He might also be a few drinks into the scotch and be fucking with me.

The buyout for Tommy Lloyd & for Todd Golden are non-starters.

Calipari’s non-compete is limited to the SEC and his buyout is relatively manageable if not attractive ($6 million). Which is about the Arkansas NIL budget.

Dusty May’s buyout is $7.5 million. Not clear he would leave — a suitor would have to make a significant sweetener over the Michigan $10-$12 million NIL budget.

Brad Stevens is promoting a former assistant who is an assistant for the Atlanta Hawks.

Jay Wright has zero interest.

So we're fucked. Great.

So we're fucked. Great.
The high wire act is that there are no obvious midair fallbacks. At all.

Hoiberg’s buyout at Nebraska is $8 million. And his recruiting base is pretty narrow today.

Otzelberger’s is $4 million. Recruiting footprint likewise limited.

There are no slam dunk hires.

I mean aside from Calipari possibly, none of that group look gettable. Brad Stevens is still my first choice after all these years. Maybe I misunderstood his the blurb on him as something negative, meaning if he's promoting a former assistant, doesn't that mean he has more long-term plans with the Celts? I dunno.

Right now, my brain is still fried. I figured I'd be over it in a day or two like I usually am, but that's simply not the truth. I'm actually angrier than I was the night of the loss. One of my great joys in life has been to have exciting, nerve-wracking weekends watching the Heels compete in the ACC tourney and the NCAA tourney. I'm speaking strictly from a place of selfishness here, and I fully accept sounding like an entitled, whiny fan. But Hubert Davis has robbed me of those weekends, because we seem to get eliminated before the weekends even begin. And it makes me angry. I want my basketball weekends back.

No
Gimme the guy who scratched his way up from HS coach nad is doing pretty good at Iowa St with 4 mil in NIL
UW -Whitewater grad
Salt of the earth

Obviously, that would be a home-run hire. Might even be a school we could get him away from.

My understanding is it sounds like he (Stevens) took calls more to promote his guy with the Hawks. But that could be someone’s Glendronach taking.
