There is zero doubt that Stevens was an elite college coach 10+ years ago. Whether he would still be in a completely different era of college bball, after several years away from coaching, is less clear. I think he probably would still be a very good coach, but it would be a riskier hire than someone who has proven they can win in the current version of college bball.

But I really don’t think it matters because Stevens would be nuts to leave his current job for college coaching.

Stevens also made a choice to stop coaching.

When Tanner was hired, it was by the AD & not HD and it was stated that his contract is not tied to HD in any way.

That said, if a new coach wants to bring his own GM, we probably let him & figure out what to do with Tanner later.

Sudeikis has been a lifelong Jayhawks basketball fan. Grew up 45 minutes from Allen Fieldhouse. Sudeikis played my older brother in basketball in high school too.

I was good friends with him for a minute when I worked in entertainment. Drifted apart before he hit with Ted Lasso though. Watched KU lose the championship game with him against Kentucky in 2012 in NOLA. Terrible night.

I didn't know that, thanks for sharing.
I remember hearing an Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) interview with Dan Le Batard during the NCAA tournament (maybe 10 years ago) and he was saying how he was a KU fan and a fan of Roy...until he left.
