Coach Bobby Finstock.

"There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady who's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick with that, everything else is cream cheese."
Had to steal this 😀

Hubert Davis' future as the head coach at North Carolina is in doubt, sources told CBS Sports.

Davis did not have contact with his staff for nearly 24 hours from Friday morning into Saturday's previously scheduled team meeting, a source said, adding to speculation and growing expectation that a massive change could be coming in Chapel Hill. If there is a reverse-course that allows Davis to stay on for a sixth season, it would be a surprise to a lot of people in and around the program.

UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham added some clarity on Saturday morning, telling CBS Sports that no decision has been made on Davis' future.
If a change is coming, it's not expected before the end of the weekend. Davis is meeting with North Carolina brass on Saturday. The team had a regularly scheduled meeting on Saturday as well, which, per sources, was business as usual.
A primary group of boosters met late Friday afternoon with UNC stakeholders, a source said, to gain clarity on whether keeping Davis was feasible. The verdict: If Davis stays, the money for roster-buildilng next season would likely be flimsy.
One source told CBS Sports that there is "no conceivable way to fund a roster through donor money, it can't be raised to fund the team next year" under Davis because almost most of the boosters at UNC have "lost faith in the program."
That source also stressed that North Carolina is seriously cash-strapped due to the humongous investments in football under Bill Belichick.

And yet, in that meeting Friday afternoon, the big money people did voice a critical piece to all of this: They believe they could rally the money to pay off Davis' remaining years on his contract and would doubly band the base together to fund the buyout for whatever big-name coach can be brought in over the next couple of weeks if a change is made.

Hopefully HD doesn't force to be fired. Surely he'll see it's far better for the program if he resigns. I would have assumed he would have done it at their team season-ending meeting today, but apparently not.

Maybe we could put together an all-Cherry staff.
Just imagine the revenue it could bring in if we could get Cherry Coke to buy into it. Cherry Coke NIL deals for all the players (all the Cherry Coke you can drink for free).

Hiring Belichick was so stupid and a waste of milions.

Isn’t it interesting and ironic that Hubert bringing Caleb Wilson to Chapel Hill may ultimately be a critical factor in what ends his UNC coaching career? He brought in this great, elite player who is arguably the best freshman we have ever had, and among one of the most fun players we have watched play at UNC, and his season-ending injuries no doubt impacted the outcomes of the final games of the season, which will likely result in Hubert losing his job.
I think it’s at least as accurate to say that Wilson helped mask Davis’ coaching deficiencies to a level that made keeping him longer a viable option, but when he went down that mask was ripped off and those deficiencies came right back to the forefront. Or maybe that’s what you are saying just put differently?

I’m available… 25+ years coaching experience (albeit only 12 years as an assistant in basketball, the rest were in football and baseball). I’m old school though… but I wouldn’t make the players run suicides for cussing, as I myself might let a few colorful words fly in he locker room at halftime.

I got called in to the superintendent’s office once… he sat me down and said: “Coach, I hear you been cussing the players in the locker room”
I said: “Me? Cussing? Get the fuck outta here!”

That gives some evidence to a main reason I think that, after Thursday, we'll have to move on. We've entered the death spiral for HD remaining the HC. If he stays he won't get the resources he needs to succeed and so there is no longer a viable path to success with him as HC. It sucks, but it's also entirely predictable.

That's encouraging. I really hope there's money for the buyout plus new coach buyout plus new coach salary (which I imagine/hope will be higher than HD's) plus substantial NIL.

I'm thinking about sending in my resume.

The Belichick boondoggle may go down as one of the worst hires in college sports history in terms of the money involved compared to the on-field results. And not only are we paying BB, we're also paying his sons, buddies, and girlfriend (indirectly) as well. So far we're getting nothing in football and possibly limiting the basketball program. Sigh.

We could throw free Coke at Roy and have him do some commercials for Coke to make the numbers work. 🤣

Can I be on your staff? I'm pretty good at overseeing drills and I have a pretty nasty hook shot I could teach to all the bigs.

Well I’d do it on the cheap…
