Is there some particular reason that folks laugh at the idea of May leaving Michigan but actively dicsuss Golden leaving Florida? Florida is a better hoops job than Michigan historically so I am curious how they reach that conclusion.

I don't understand why people think May is so stuck at Michigan. It is a good job, and he may like being in the shadows of the football program, but I've seen no evidence that he is UM lifer.

Actually, if I understand it correctly, it was determined that he violated the sexual misconduct policy, but there was no finding of a Title IX violation (and initially no Title IX claim was filed). But after the student who was the victim of the misconduct learned that he had been working out with the team, which she believed was a violation of the agreement that had been reached regarding Hugh’s suspension, she filed a Title IX claim against the university, which I assume is still pending.

The UCO office found that he violated the sexual misconduct policy. The UCO office is the department that handles Title IX complaints.

She is now suing the University under Title IX for not enforcing the punishment properly.

That is absolutely a Title IX violation. And a Title IX punishment. If you are punished by the Title IX office for sexual misconduct and suspended from the University, you have been found guilty of a Title IX violation.

If you want to get technical, Title IX only applies to the institution, not the individual. But for all intents and purposes, he violated Title IX and was punished for it.

Hiring Golden right after we hired Belichick and his sugar baby girlfriend would, to put it mildly, be a PR disaster for the school. UNC used to have the reputation of "doing things the right way". No doubt ABCers laughed at that but it was real and it is part of what made us such a prestigious school and athletic program. Having Golden and Belichick here at the same time would pretty much finish that reputation for good. Surely we can do better than him.

I’m not quite at the point of getting antsy and understand that situations like this one are delicate/require time to work out behind the scenes. Statements like that from people like Larry Brown are why you need to be decisive though. If you’re making the move then don’t let it fester.

Again, I don’t think we’re at that point yet, but if we go another day or two in limbo then we’ll definitely be getting into “messy” territory.
