Welcome to every coaching search ever in the internet age.Still pages and pages of BS and no knowledge.
More or less hilarious than Bill Belichick wanting to coach UNC football?I also find it hilarious that people think Brad Stevens would leave the Celtics front office to be the UNC head coach.
I’d stupidly thought this site might be different from IC.Welcome to every coaching search ever in the internet age.
A lot more hilarious. Belichick wasn't coaching and clearly wanted to coach. Belichick also has a(n admittedly weak) link to UNC. Stevens is the GM at one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. He chose to step down from coaching because he was supposedly tired of the daily grind. Stevens is from Indiana and has no connection to UNC or the ACC or the state of North Carolina. I don't even understand why people are talking about him. He hasn't coached at all in 5 years. And he hasn't coached a college game since 2013. I'm not even sure he would be a good candidate in this era. It's all absurd.More or less hilarious than Bill Belichick wanting to coach UNC football?
Both UNC and Kansas had openings in the 2003 offseason. Haha.I have no idea what Self will do. KU and Carolina open in the same offseason would also be insane.
Not sure that holds true anymore about Kentucky and UNC attracting different types of coaches or those schools going after different types of coaches. My guess is that they would both go after the same big names and the school that offers both the most money and can guarantee that money won’t be an issue in landing players will be the school that coach chooses.UNC is a better job than MSU. Kentucky and UNC would attract different types of coaches. Kansas is the only real competition.

There was an article posted earlier in this thread (or maybe the VCU game thread) saying basically that UNC is "severely cash-strapped" due to paying a fortune to Belichick and his sons and buddies and to making "upgrades" to the football program. Of course I have a hunch that if our boosters really want a top-notch basketball coach they'll come up with the money somewhere. Nonetheless, there's little doubt that BB & Company have put a real strain on our athletic budget.Has there been any insight on IC about how much money we can offer a coach? Seems that we may need to pay $10MM per year for an elite coach. Do we have that type of money with the BB fiasco? That is about 2.5x what we are paying HD.
I agree that Stevens is very unlikely, but when several different posters from IC with long track records of being extremely tuned in to this stuff mention his name then there’s probably at least some smoke there. Not like some random fans are starting completely baseless rumors just because Stevens is a big name.A lot more hilarious. Belichick wasn't coaching and clearly wanted to coach.
