IC going to On3

I can't stand the new inside Carolina message boards but I do think their writers are much better than 247 - I only have 247 premium because they had a big sale on it
The IC message boards are vastly superior to 247. It is the exact same software as this site (although Rock has added a few bells and whistles). And IC also has a good app now for mobile.

You are just used to 247 boards. Once you get used to on3, it’s hard to go back to 247.

I listened to an IC podcast last night and they mentioned subscriptions are currently 75% off. I haven’t looked to see if it’s 75% off a 12 month subscription or if it’s shorter term

I don’t have a subscription to either site but from a quick glance, I feel like 247 pushed a bunch of resources towards the Carolina site when IC left and now they’ve pulled back. Thus, quality of 247 site is lower.

If they would let me play with the settings I could make the IC forums work as well as here and add in a lot of bells and whistles as well as proper aesthetic changes.

At this point I am sure I know the software better than any of their tech people.

I understand giving each team individual control over their forums could be problematic but I am confident that you can keep control by separating the logins, could easily revert and fix changes, etc.

I’m not joking when I suggest that perhaps they’ve hired like one IT person who they pay a measly sum to keep things running and that’s it.

Probably. I don't think they have even setup custom themes for each site. They just have one set of themes, and then change the forum colors to override the themes. I don't know for sure, just a hunch based on the crickets I got back where I said any thing we want that you don't want on other sites, just apply it to the IC theme...

It's for a year. I decided now was a good time to compare content with that deal. I made a great call

I took advantage of the 75% off deal and re-signed up for Inside Carolina and I'll admit I do like the app - I'm not going to renew at 247 and I'll see how I feel after a year in regards to Inside Carolina - so is Greg Barnes back full time and is Adam Smith gone?

Spencer Haskell replaced Adam Smith. Adam was fired and it was never publicly revealed why.

Greg resumed full-time reporting last summer and does a daily podcast with Tommy, similar to the Three Things podcast Andrew does with Jacob on 247.

I didn't realize they fired Adam.

FYI ON3 has put in their own built-in staff post sort, which i admit works better than mine as it has the ability to bring all posts into one page, though it has some bugs they need to work out. (Mine only had the ability to redraw the page that was served up due to the limitations of being browser based.)

A few months back they hired a bigwig from 247 who has worked with IC for decades and now it looks like they are finally addressing some of the tech issues that were requested.

Praise the lord. Having the posts on one page is far superior. I’m sure the bugs will get worked out quickly.

I’m stunned that there was someone competent working at 247 in terms of IT.

Literally, at the very moment I am writing this, 247 is experiencing technical problems. At least on the Kansas site.

People often think about what they would do if they were billionaires and no joke, one of my dreams is to buy 247 and either fix it or destroy it.

I hate the schism. We ended up with two crappier sites and a fragmente community. I'm still on 247 just because my post history is there.
The On3 ZZL has post on the front page that haven't had a response since Feb.

The front page of 247 is at least in the current month.
