This is pretty shocking (that Trump os referring to the far right “Remigration”) but with everything else going on has mostly been swallowed by other news:

ICE Says It Has No Immediate Plans to Release Mahmoud Khalil

A federal judge ruled this week that the government cannot hold the Columbia University graduate under the rarely invoked law it used to detain him.

“… The field office director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New Orleans told the lawyers on Thursday, “I have no information that your client will be released or a time for that.” The judge, Michael E. Farbiarz, had opened the door to Mr. Khalil’s release as early as Friday morning.

… It is not clear whether the government is actively violating Judge Farbiarz’s order. He had suggested that it might be able to continue detaining Mr. Khalil for reasons other than Mr. Rubio’s invocation, and it is possible that the Trump administration could seek to convince the court that there is some additional justification for doing so.…”

GOP House Agriculture Chair says ICE raids at farms are 'just wrong'

Earlier Thursday, President Donald Trump promised “changes” to the immigration crackdown would be coming soon.

“… “They need to knock it off,” Thompson told reporters. “Let's go after the criminals and give us time to put processes in place so we don’t disrupt the food supply chain.”

… Agriculture industry and business groups have been sounding the alarm for months that President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown could exacerbate ongoing farm labor shortages….”

Removing criminals is a popular position, which is undoubtedly why Vance focused on it. Pew Research Center found that 8 in 10 Americans support deporting violent criminals, with 6 in 10 supporting the deportation of nonviolent criminals. A majority also supports the deporting recently arrived immigrants highlighted by Hegseth.

Then support starts to collapse. Only 4 in 10 support deporting parents of children born in America, for example, similar to the percentage that supports deporting immigrants with jobs or who came to the U.S. as children.

This is where Democrats need to focus their energy to win this fight. The categories where most Americans don't believe we should deport. The majority of people, including me, are willing to allow some of those here illegally to stay. If you have kids that are US citizens, if you a DREAMER, if you have kept your nose clean, have been consistently employed, etc, I see no issue with with allowing you to stay.

100%. The message needs to be that the Pubs are trying to build a stained glass window with a sledgehammer.

This is where the Dems have always focused their energy. You know why they are called DREAMers? Because of the Dem-sponsored and GOP opposed DREAM Act.

It just gets drowned out amidst the lies of "open border" and "invasion"

Masked and unidentified ICE agents lurking near schools and homeless shelters spark fear and confusion in majority-Latino enclaves outside New York.

Trump Shifts Deportation Focus, Pausing Raids on Farms, Hotels and Eateries

The abrupt pivot on an issue at the heart of Mr. Trump’s presidency suggested his broad immigration crackdown was hurting industries and constituencies he does not want to lose.

“… The new guidance comes after protests in Los Angeles against the Trump administration’s immigration raids, including at farms and businesses. It also came as Mr. Trump made a rare concession this week that his crackdown was hurting American farmers and hospitality businesses.

The guidance was sent on Thursday in an email by a senior ICE official, Tatum King, to regional leaders of the ICE department that generally carries out criminal investigations, including work site operations, known as Homeland Security Investigations.

“Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels,” he wrote in the message.

The email explained that investigations involving “human trafficking, money laundering, drug smuggling into these industries are OK.” But it said — crucially — that agents were not to make arrests of “noncriminal collaterals,” a reference to people who are undocumented but who are not known to have committed any crime.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the guidance.…”
