“Stephen Miller: "What would LA look like without illegal aliens? You would be able to see a doctor in the ER right away, no wait time, no problem. You[r] kids would go to a public school that had more money than they know what to do with…””

These people simply do not live in the real world. Obviously Miller has never visited an ER on a weekend…anywhere. And anyone thinks ERs are a disaster now, wait ‘til the effects of the “big beautiful bill” materialize.

He doesn’t think any of that. He wants to hurt people because he hates himself, and people with unexamined lives who hate themselves almost always externalize the source of their discomfort, and cover up that discomfort with physical and/or rhetorical violence. Nazis are the way they are largely because they don’t like their feels.

How about the guy shooting at Federal Agrbts??
Any comment??

The world will be a much better place when he dies. It would honestly be a better place if he had never been born at all.
Trumpers can deny it all they want, but this really is the exact same strategy that the Nazis used to dehumanize Jews and other "undesirables" like gypsies. Portray them as animals and savages who deserve no mercy and who must be removed from society via extreme measures to "save" or "restore" the kind of society that their base wants. People who say we're not moving down that path need to take a long look in the mirror, but of course they won't.

One thing many people forget is that Nazis, although totally evil, were also a very weird, eccentric, and strange group of people. Some, like Hitler, had been petty criminals in their younger days, some (like Himmler) believed in the Norse Gods and thought that Thor and his hammer Mjolnir actually existed, among other supernatural artifacts, and sent teams of Nazis around the globe to retrieve them for Nazi use, some (like propaganda minister Goebbels) believed in astrology, and so on. In many cases they were freaks and fringe nutcases (as well as virulent racists and lots of other terrible things) in their youths who managed to become the absolute rulers of a powerful nation, created one of the most powerful personality cults of all time, and committed acts of horror on tens of millions in many different nations. Miller, I think, would fit right in with that group a century or so ago.

Two stories from today.

1. 20-yr old student in NY with no criminal record, no deportation order, with legal status and pursuing citizenship “the right way.”

Deported.

2. Per my ex, a case she’s working on may be getting national press in the coming days.

Broad strokes:

—male mid-20s immigrated in his mid teens.
—he’s mentally handicapped and unstable, but managed with meds.
—he was a target for gangs in his home country. The gangs treated him as a fighting dog, put him up against other mentally challenged folks in cage matches.
—he escaped the gangs and made it to NJ, where he’s lived with family for several years. Held a job, no interactions with the law.
—he was picked up in a raid by ICE and “disappeared” to a facility in Texas.
—his meds have been withheld. ICE agents have abused/beaten him. ICE officers have blocked/restricted his access to legal counsel.

Absolutely disheartening story — self-inflicted wound that not only devastate this deported family but ripple through a community reliant on the quality care Nicolle provided to severely disabled children.

When you step back from the human tragedy, it is also infuriating that our immigration system was allowed to be such a kafkaesque nightmare before Trump. Of course the Trump Admin can be blamed for their cruel and thoughtless targeting of all illegal immigrants regardless of their contributions to their communities but you can’t deny they are enforcing the laws on the books in a lot of cases — enforcing deportation orders that other administrations set in motion but did not enforce (even if they chose to do so for humanitarian reasons or simply to benefit the communities where these immigrants worked). ICE is exploiting this failure to establish a sane and humane immigration policy (that exists in no small part because Republicans have refused to participate in rational solutions and Democrats have been too willing to signal tougher immigration laws and policies and try to mitigate that by selective enforcement).

Agreed.

While we're on the subject of that guy, Stephen Miller is absolutely the kind of dude who is "secretly" into black or Latina women.

Anyone who hates immigrants that much is in the throes of some serious denial and repression. We've seen numerous examples of this in the Evangelical community throughout the years (Ted Haggard, Gary Aldridge, to name a few), and we recently saw it with Mark Robinson. And I haven't even started naming all the political or congressional figures who fall into this category.

He's probably smart enough to not have an alternate online persona, but long-repressed desires have a way of overriding logic and reason.

I'll say it again. This has never been about ending illegal immigration. It has always been about ending ALL IMMIGRATION. But now, it seems even more sinister than I originally thought. It's about removing all undesirables, even citizens and legal residents.
Nazis will always have another target bubbling up from their self loathing and fear. Always. There is no end point.
