If by 'mostly peaceful' you meant ALL unauthorized immigrants, then I was correct.

Did you mean to say that most MS-13 gang members who are unauthorized immigrants are peaceful? If so, I would agree that most MS-13 gang members are NOT peaceful, but that's just MS-13 gang members (far less than 12,000,000).

Open your eyes. There are protests all across the country about the chaotic disaster the 1st 100 days of this administration. Most of us do not embrace a tinpot dictator like you apparently do. We still prefer our leaders to follow the law and constitution.

Having said that, if this past election taught us anything, it was to not underestimate the stupidity of the American people. There are people among us who are spoon fed their opinions by far right twitter trolls. They don't seem to realize they're being pumped with misinformation to keep them scared and angry.

I assumed when he said "everything is backfiring at this point" he meant it was backfiring on Trump. He thinks this is good for Trump? Also according to the tweet SD posted, it's the "Sinola" cartel.

Wait are you saying we should have secured borders so fentanyl can't enter the country so easily? Lol you walked right into that one.
I'm saying CNN tried to get a cartel member to bash Trump and imply Trumps actions are causing cartels to retaliate but that wasn't the case.

Because he knows, as we’ve been telling you morons for years now, that keeping migrants in Mexico is the best Christmas gift ever for his and other drug and human-trafficking cartels. Good lord, man. I know nobody’s trying to immigrate into Russia so you may not have personal knowledge of this, but use a couple of the brain cells God gave you from time to time.

Saw this headline while at the gym. Can see why Fox News viewers spout the stuff that they do. Granted they do slide in the article what Claudia Sceinbaum is rejecting: US troops in Mexico. She states Mexico and the US can work together but she stops at having US troops on Mexico soil. But the headline and even the blurb under the headline makes it sound like Mexico does not want to help at all which is complete 🐂💩

Because those people did not claim asylum, and hence, they were eligible for expedited return. When immigrants claim asylum, or other judicial protection (like no return to a specific country) they are entitled to a hearing.

This. Also:

1. Anyone caught within 100 miles of the border, having been in the US without documentation for less than 14 days, can be summarily removed. Every presidential administration does this.

2. There are also stipulated removals, which Trump calls self-deportation. These are agreements where the migrant agrees to leave in lieu of enforcement proceedings. There's no hearing, but that's only because the defendant is entering something akin to a guilty plea. Again, all administrations do this.

3. Obama didn't deny due process to anyone. Thus could their cases be heard by ALJs and though they can be appealed to an Article III court, that process is lengthy and most migrants don't try it. It's also expensive.

BUT once the president denies the process that is due, now the migrant has a claim for habeus corpus. That has to go to a federal district court. So it's Trump who created the conditions by which the Article III courts had to get involved.

If Trump just did things they way they're supposed to be done according to the law, how they have been done for decades, then we wouldn't have this "due process" problem. Trump, as usual, has accomplished nothing with his thuggery and in fact it has backfired. He is less able to deport, and it will cost more, because he tried to do it on the cheap. Which is basically the story of Trump's whole life.

1. Asylum has to be claimed when entering the US IIRC
2. The applicant for asylum has to prove a credible fear of persecution. That's a fairly low bar but not impossibly low. Plenty of would-be migrants do not establish credible fear. Without credible fear, the asylum can be denied on the spot and that counts as process.

Now you are starting to catch on.

The excessive use of asylum started late Obama and continued through Trump and Biden (leading to the “remain in Mexico” idea). That is why Biden tried to get the reform package through Congress last year to make it easier and faster to process asylum claims.

Biden wasn’t just letting in immigrants for the heck of it. He was hamstrung by a law that said he had to - and unlike Trump, Biden tries to follow the law.

There is no simple solution to excessive asylum claims. The immigrants have Facebook and know the exact lines they need to say when they get to the border. So the system clearly needs reform.

You have up to a year to claim asylum. That is ridiculous on its face.
