I always look forward to your responses on such history questions
Thanks .

The qualifiers in the question are pretty debatable...i.e., "...vast differences but yet, equal power among the different groups. Or is the US the only place in history where this is expected to be a high functioning, peaceful reality over the long term." That equal power angle for example -- not sure what that means or if such a things has ever existed anywhere -- and 'high functioning, peaceful reality over the long term' is also a pretty arguable state of being and hardly one that necessarily meshes with the first qualifier regarding said 'equal power.' Both examples that first came to mind for me also had periods of oppression of minorities and the "Other" as well and of course, neither were anything even resembling constitutional democratic republics.

A huge debate could be staged regarding the historical uniqueness of the United States -- and isn't that the true foundation of our own argument about our "exceptionalness" as a nation and our example to the world -- that "shining city on the hill" brought forth by John Winthrop and then reiterated by both JFK and Ronald Reagan.

What about pre-Colombian nations in the Western Hemisphere?

Chinese Empires? India Empires? Pre-colonial (European) empires in Africa?

It's an interesting question but, IRL, someone is always on top. It's been white men and/or Christians who have dominated the history of the US. Most empires were multicultural until the concept of monotheism. Denying that another god existed and that believing that way made you anathema put a hitch in assimilation.

Wish we had Rome's Pontifex Maximus who ensured private citizens were free to believe anything that didn't threaten state security. We. could get rid of a lot of overweening interference to private conduct that are now in place to cater to Christian sensibilities and superstitions and we could take action against the nationalist and haters that threaten our traditions of liberty, justice and equality

There has been some pretty cool recent evidence unearthed in the ruins of Teotihuacan that suggest that the ancient city had a diverse population...though the main way that archaeologists have of identifying that demography is by the segregation indicated by housing patterns. The neighborhoods would, I suppose, have been something akin to Little Italy or Chinatown, in modern cities. The market was probably the most ethnically and racially mixed and based on merit space. There's a lot unknown about Teotihuacan. It was already a ruin by the time that the Aztec Mexica built Tenochtitlan.

It's also important to note that Judge Dredd comics were created as a critique against fascism and Margaret Thatcher's Conservative Party. Once again, the warning against becomes the blueprint for.

Yeah, as one who has drawn comparisons between MAGA and the Nazis many times, I would be sympathetic to the complaint that those comparisons are overblown, were it not for the fact that MAGA constantly uses language and imagery that intentionally invokes Naziism.

True that.

More on Judge Dredd and politics:

I have a hunch that MAGAs and Trump 2.0 don't see this as a disaster at all, because I don't think their goal was ever to create a truly professional law enforcement group limited by the law. Their goal was to create a group of thugs in masks who could be given carte blanche by the government to bully, harass, intimidate and use blatant racial profiling to just yank people right off the streets in diverse Democratic-voting large cities and try to frighten darker-skinned immigrants into going back to where ever they came from (or their parents or grandparents came from). So they're likely quite happy to have people with criminal backgrounds and a history of violence signing up for ICE (aka Trump 2.0's personal Patriot Militia). So for them this isn't a disaster at all - it's probably what they hoped for.
