And, on top of that, it was a failed strategy when it was "Abolish the Police." Abolish ICE is going to leave a sour taste in the mouths of people who didn't like the prior slogan. I've also seen some folks complain when, and call for the primarying of, specific democratic politicians refuse to say the phrase "Abolish ICE" when put on the spot. It's a terrible litmus test.
Abolish reminds the right about losing slavery and they’re still salty about that.

There's nothing wrong with the concept, but "Abolish ICE" doesn't mean abandon all immigration enforcement. It means the enforcement mechanism is broken beyond repair and needs to be replaced.

I've seen it described this way: If you receive a beautiful dish at a lovely restaurant and there is a giant cockroach in the middle of the food, what do you do? The government wants you to eat the cockroach. ICE reformers want you to eat around the cockroach. Abolish ICE wants you to send the dish back for a new one.
But that isn't what Abolish ICE means. The words mean "close the restaurant." What you are talking about is replacing ICE.

These fucking leftists have the same destruction fetish as Trump and they are going to fuck us over if we embrace their stupid jargons. Abolish ICE is the new "Defund the Police."

Maybe eventually they will learn that the public has an attention span of five words. That's how much time you get to make your case. You don't say "Abolish ICE, and here's what I mean by that." If you mean, replace ICE, then say replace ICE. And that is the only position that makes any sense. Abolish ICE is a recipe for losing elections.

I hope nobody on this board is stupid enough to indulge this idiotic rhetoric. I swear, one of the biggest causes of Trump is dumbass leftists with their "white privilege" and "defund the police" and "critical race studies" and "abolish ICE" and all this shit that scares people. And then these same people complain about how Dems message.

The problem on the liberal side of the spectrum is the same as the conservative one -- the radicals. Except Trump's radicals talk like ordinary Americans while saying things that are horrifying. Leftists say things that are good in language that is horrifying .

Then they should say REPLACE ICE, not abolish it (which sounds more like burn the restaurant to the ground in your example).
Hah, you beat me to it. Absolutely. Abolish the Police needs to be eliminated and you should cancel everyone in your life who uses that phrase. If there is one thing you can do to stop the fascism, it's to stop leftists from tarring all liberals as anarchists.

It will be absolute.
It definitely won't be absolute.

And I have my doubts that the Court is happy about what is going on. If you have a lifetime powerful position the last thing you need is someone else creating a chaos that could result in your downfall. The Supreme Court is not getting anything out of this.

Not that I've been going around saying "Abolish ICE" or even giving the phrase much thought, but you guys make solid points, and I'll take care to use "Replace ICE" should I ever be in the position. The main point though is that ICE cannot continue in its current form, and I think "Abolish ICE" tries to convey that in as strong a term as possible, but loses clarity and precision in its attempt to gain forcefulness.

You do not abolish ICE. You simply fold it into an energetically funded newly reorganized CBP that we get when we pass the 40 year overdue comprehensive immigration reform package.

Oh, and in that package it says we don't need that many agents, but we'll use the hedcount to fully staff efficent and functional immigration courts.

There, anything else you need me to solve today?

The president of Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota on Tuesday called for the immediate release of tribal members who were detained at a homeless encampment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minnesota last week.

Three of the four Oglala Sioux Tribe members who were arrested in Minneapolis on Friday have been transferred to an ICE facility at Fort Snelling, President Frank Star Comes Out said in a statement released with a memorandum sent to federal immigration authorities.

...

In the memorandum sent to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Star Comes Out said the when tribal nation reached out to the agency it was provided with only the first names of the men. Homeland Security refused to release more information, unless the tribe “entered into an immigration agreement with ICE.”
Any lawyers want to speak to how illegal this is? I mean it directly ignores the Indian Citizens Act, doesn't it?

I still have never heard a good reason for going around and detaining all suspected illegal immigrants. If there are known violent offenders? Ok. Want a more secure border? Ok.

But to recruit and poorly train masked forces to just round people up? No. I’ve never heard a good reason.
