ICE protecting us from the threat of senior citizen women with clean records. Not a good idea to live in a place where law enforcement officers have disappearance quotas. I really suggest the lot of you move away when you can.

“… In exchange for helping President Trump carry out his deportation agenda, the United States paid El Salvador millions of dollars, adding an important sweetener at Mr. Bukele’s request: the return of key MS-13 leaders in American custody.

Officials from both countries have said the gang leaders are being sent back to face justice.

But the Trump administration has not acknowledged another reason Mr. Bukele would want them back: U.S. prosecutors have amassed substantial evidence of a corrupt pact between the Salvadoran government and some high-ranking MS-13 leaders, who they say agreed to drive down violence and bolster Mr. Bukele politically in exchange for cash and perks in jail, a New York Times investigation found.

The deal with El Salvador heralded by Mr. Trump as a crackdown on crime is actually undermining a longstanding U.S. inquiry into the gang, according to multiple people with knowledge of the initiative.

Two major ongoing cases against some of the gang’s highest-ranking leaders could be badly damaged, and other defendants could be less likely to cooperate or testify in court, they said.…”

The stupidity of this administration never ceases to amaze me. First, I'm not aware of a big issue with people escaping from ICE detention centers. These are people who want to live and work in the US, not escape decades of hard labor.

Second, the Everglades are not some impassable barrier. They're not exactly hospitable, but the Seminoles have been living there for more than 200 years now. Floridians use them for recreation all the time. And while I may have missed something, I can't remember the last time an alligator attacked a human in the Everglades.

DeSantis, Uthmeier and Bondi have no excuse, but I often think most people in this administration think all of Florida looks like either Mar-a-Lago or The Villages.

Nah, don’t do that — don’t concede to those folks. Celebrate what IS and has been and could be great about the American experiment and those who work toward the ideal.

Season 3 America GIF by Broad City

I hear you and understand. I've thought about this a lot. It's just not in me to celebrate. Maybe I'll feel differently later in the week but I doubt it.
