We are doomed . Just engaged with someone on Facebook who I have worked with and I know he had some degree of intelligence. He is not a brain dead moron. But he’s posting the fabricated rap sheet of Good’s (child abuse etc) that is making the rounds on FB and asking why FB took it down. I told him and someone else did to that the DOB is wrong on it and that there is no reputable source that can be found that will confirm any of it. Still convinced that it is real. Implied that Fox News can’t be trusted (it can’t but not for the crazy ass right/white wing reasons he thinks). I even told him if true Noem and Vance would be tweeting about it non stop. Still not sure I got through. Intelligent individual in some areas but has lost his damn mind politically.

That’s possible.
You can’t tell from the front video exactly when he shoots and exactly when the car touches him.
Hopefully, more video will be released. But it is certainly possible that the shot was fired before the contact occurred.

It really doesn't matter whether the car touched him or not, since he moved himself in the way of the car and anyway he was clearly never in any danger of being injured.

He transferred his phone to his left hand before moving in front of the car, after being chastised by the passenger. He did this because he was getting ready to draw his gun with his right hand. Because he was mad.

If the photograph below was reenacted on the streets of America with the guy holding the pistol an INS agent and the person being shot a left-wing protestor, then the right-wing in America would arise with one voice and DEMAND a preemptive pardon from St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago for the brave patriot who only seeking to protect America from [fill in the blank] seeking to destroy our way of life.

The standard BS move -- sadly effective because people aren't very good at critical thinking -- from defense lawyers is to simultaneously say: 1) the officer doesn't have luxury of time, and has to make split second decisions and but 2) let's go frame by frame to analyze every last detail as if the officer was doing just that. It shouldn't work. I know you're familiar with the strategy and have maybe even used it, but it's BS.
Do jury instructions allow the jury to be told that they can infer the officer didn't have time or perceptual ability to notice all these fine details? Like, the jury can choose to accept the frame by frame analysis but could think that the full speed video better captures the officer's subjective perception? They should.

As a college-educated *former* fiscal Republican who now supports Dems, let me tell you:
-There are NO college educated Republicans left.
There are Republicans with college degrees, but they did not get a college education.
A college education requires you at its core, to be able to change your mind when presented with new information, such as your party being taken over by authoritarians.
Those who had an actual education and not a half-rate piece of paper, do not support this administration.
They moved on, they call themselves Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, Former Republicans, or in a few rare cases “Classic Republicans” (who are still trying to win the party back…)
Supporting solely along party lines, regardless of who leads party, is a failing of being able to question and adjust when new data is presented.
So the college-educated Republican does not exist today.
It may again in the future, as our country gets back to sane times.
But today it’s just Republicans with pieces of paper, and those of us who would never look back.

Yes, with the exception that the person being executed had just executed the entire family (except one of six children) of a member of the South Vietnamese military who was a close friend of the person doing the shooting. That one survivor was a nine-year old boy (who was shot three times) who later came to America, obtained several degrees in engineering from prestigious US universities and recently retired from the US Navy after serving for 30 years.

The Viet Cong who just murdered a family was also obviously wearing civilian clothes. The photo won a Pulitzer. The photo did help galvanize anti-war sentiment as it was published without context and depicted a brutal war with savage allies. The photographer said he regretted the fact that it was published without context and the negative effect it had on the shooter's life.

As I have repeated, ad nauseum, on this board and ALL it's predecessors, I once had the unearned and great good fortune to meet Martin Niemoller, TWICE, while I was in the Army stationed in Germany. Once in a small group at my Sunday School class and later in an even smaller group in his apartment in Wiesbaden. On one of the occasions, someone asked what was the "correct" version of the his "When they came for . . .." [poem??, saying??] because they had heard so many different versions. And Pastor Niemoller replied that he didn't know because he had never said it twice the same way. He said he had always tailored it to fit the group he was speaking to.
