The United States government is calling its own citizens domestic terrorists to justify their summary execution on the streets, on camera, in front of the entire world.

Not to go all emo or anything but this past week is legitimately the first time where the realization has truly hit me that we aren't ever going back to "normal" even after Trump himself is dead and gone. For most of the last decade of Trumpism, I've taken the pollyanna mindset that once we get Trump out of office for good, things will go back to their pre-Trump normalcy. This last week, with the Venezuela, Greenland, and now this execution in Minneapolis by the American Gestapo, have revealed to me that we are absolutely not going back. There is no "going back." The idea that ordinary politics will simply resume "business as normal" at some point in the future, after extrajudicial executions of American citizens by secret police have been enthusiastically embraced and cheered on by 35% of the American population, is simply farcical and frankly idiotic on my part.

We are fucked. And I'm stupid for it having taken until January 7, 2026 to realize it.

No doubt. At a minimum, they should say that they are looking into the situation, ask that no one rush to judgment until an investigation is completed and they can gather all the facts, and acknowledge that the loss of life was a tragic result. Of course that’s not who they are. They are rotten people who have no business being in the positions they’re in. We are in dark times.

Yeah, that's about the same percentage who enthusiastically embraced the KKK and the Red Shirts 130 years ago. Wish people like Tar1978Heel had the brain cells to put that together.

That’s the million $$$ question. I would think that if a federal agent uses excessive force that results in death, they can be subject to state charges just as a local police officer can. I don’t see why agency jurisdiction would make a difference there. But what I think doesn’t necessarily make it so.

I might have been a bit hasty with my earlier comments. After watching the video over and over again, and in slow-motion, it is clear to me that this was a justified shooting. The ICE agent not only saved his own life, but probably saved the lives of many other people by taking out this woman. In fact, I think the agent should be named and publicly recognized for his heroism. That way he can never leave his house again without people recognizing him and thanking him for his selfless service.
 
Now, let's understand the situation. Officer thinks motorist is going to run him/her over. Would it be best to draw their weapon and shoot the motorist; or, would be best to try and get themself out of the way. My reflex (when I had any) would be to get out of harms way. If I then shot the driver I would expect to be charged with something. Well, maybe if I were wearing a mask... That is exactly why they wear masks.
