Can’t even put into words how awesome it feels to know that the second downed pilot was rescued. This war is a spectacular defeat for the United States, and the administration that led us into it is fully responsible for it, but this rescue effort is a reminder that the men and woman in our armed forces are among the bravest and most selfless people in our country. Thank God they made it back safely. God bless our troops.

Will be very interesting to read the story. I can see how the planes could get stuck and the reapers could get shot down. Wonder how the helicopters got destroyed unless that was the plan.

Wild speculation. Fly helicopters in belly of c-130s. Use helicopters to pick up downed pilot and fly back to planes. Planes are stuck. New planes fly in. Takes too long to load helicopters in new plane or maybe not equipped for it. Let's get the hell out of here and blow the gear up on the way out.

I've read this take elsewhere, but even if it's true it shouldn't make anyone feel any better, as this tweet is simply batshit crazy insane to anyone who's not a blind member of the cult. He's always been nuts, but his failure to win this war quickly and with minimal cost to the USA has finally broken him mentally, imo. He's completely unhinged, and in a sane world the 25th Amendment would be invoked and he would be removed from office as soon as possible. But as the world (or at least America) seems as insane right now as he does nothing will happen - except it's likely going to get even worse, both domestically and overseas, if that's possible. Electing Trump is going to go down as one of the worst disasters in US history, imo. The man is simply crazy and utterly unfit to be the Mayor of Asheboro, much less the POTUS.

Agree. I said a couple of years back that if Trump got elected again he wouldn’t be fit for public appearances by the mid point of this term. I think we have already reached that point from a historical perspective. The absolutely unhinged cabinet meetings are document #1.

He hasn't been mentally fit to be in office for years. Pubs are too scared to do anything because they know they need his cult members to come out to vote for them to have any chance at being elected. They care more about being in office more than the country. They and MAGA would rather see the country burn down than to give in and have to deal with a country that looks different than the straight white Christian bubble they want to live in.

Pretty much everyone who's not MAGA knows that he's never been mentally fit to be POTUS, but I do think he's gotten steadily worse in his second term, and with his failure in the Iran War he's simply completely cracked up.

Trump is now the worst disaster in world history, since at least World War II, which I hinted as forthcoming in my "Here Be Dragons" thread just after his return to office. America basically deserves to be destroyed for returning him to office (not what I want--I want America to succeed as a valued partner in the world). I know a nexus of a hundred factors returned him to power, from McConnell, to Fox "News," to corporate powers and CEOs, but we collectively participated in the catastrophe in various ways.

My added viewpoint now, is everything bad we have seen will be almost forgotten by the horrors to come--up to an election this regime will do anything they can imagine, and things we can't, to sabotage.

I suppose the takeaway here is how focused and panicked he is about getting the Strait opened. He always ramps up the threats when he's panicked.

Perhaps he knows that by the end of this week or the middle of the following week, that the hit to the supply chain and oil prices can't be hidden. Remember this was originally supposed to be a four week thing. So he is going to bomb. Its the only distraction he can come up with.
 
So he's just posted the deadline is 8 pm eastern time on Tuesday? Sounds like he's setting up another last minute extension because Iran all of a sudden is serious about negotiating. Maybe a little stock manipulation on the side.
 
How many billions have we and will we spend to do the thing was we had for free (opening Hormuz) before this stupid war began?
