What is the idea with this anyway? If Iran doesn't have that Island then they can't ship oil? I assume the oil being exported from that Island was produced in Iran and so Iran has to feed the Island with oil. Is the idea that it would be taking an Iranian hostage so they would reopen the Strait? Uh, what if Iran says screw it, if we don't get to ship oil then no one else in the Gulf gets to ship? I give it ten days and Trump would buckle.

Hegseth is clearly horny for this war, but I’m not sure he manages Trump well with his Holy War rhetoric. That seems like something that would turn Trump off, rather than motivate him.

I do believe that in the long run Israel is going to seriously regret what they're doing right now, as they are killing their support among younger Americans. At some point in the future Israel may genuinely need US aid and they may not get it. I see more grumbling and complaints about Israel now than ever, and I'm in my late 50s. More and more people seem to be coming to the conclusion that Israel is a troublesome and dubious ally at best, and as the number of Evangelical Christians declines in the country so will the automatic support they now get from the US government.
