This is tough. I want to not care, since Netanyahu is a key in the war, but the people of Israel are in a similar situation to us, I believe, in that their government isn't aligned with the people. Even though they do have Universal health care funded by our government. God damn our government is inept.
Their problem has been similar to ours for a while in that the voting public is 50/50 … we swing back and forth more with our system but Israel has had several attempted coalitions that excluded Netanyahu fail. He’s consolidated control by aligning with and empowering ultra conservatives, so that most of the political pressure on him (the folks willing to blow up his governing coalition) are to his right.

Israelis have to face a more direct existential threat and live in a region where isolationism isn’t really an option, which makes for a very different calculus than most Americans. From what I’ve read, a lot of Israelis who oppose Netanyahu for a host of reasons nonetheless feel cathartic support to try to finish off the Iranian regime for good.

MAGATs keep sending me this, claiming the tide has turned.

I think they are misreading it. The "world" might mean for the US to leave the Gulf alone. For example, the Italian statement (I used AI to translate as I don't speak Italian):

Translation:
I have read completely misinterpretations of the document approved today by some European and non-European nations, including Italy.
No war mission.
No entry into Hormuz without a truce and a comprehensive multilateral initiative.
We are aware, however, of the importance for everyone of working towards the safe reopening of Hormuz, and we believe it is right and appropriate for the United Nations to provide the legal framework for a peaceful and multilateral initiative to achieve this goal."

Other than Israel, Trump doesn't actually care about any of the other ME countries.
Trump looks for corrupt partners that can help him with his corruption. Israel is just incidental. What or who he really cares about is Bibi. Hell, he's already been asking for a pardon for Bibi.

Why shouldn't they want the war to continue? We're supplying them with most of their weapons and likely footing the bill for most of the fighting, and if it becomes a land war it's likely mostly American troops who will be in the line of fire. Bibi and his government is playing Trump like a fiddle, even if in the long run they're probably killing their future American support as more and more younger Americans turn against Israel and see it as less of a necessary ally and more of a troublemaker nuisance.

We also now “fund” the people who would be killing American service members as Trump has lifted sanctions on billions of dollars of Iranian oil.

Don’t be hard on yourself lady!
You were just one of 77,284,118 idiots. No real explanation other than a bad case of propaganda mass poisoning. In proportion, Nov 5, 2024, puts the Jonestown mass murder-suicide to shame. We will be counting the resulting deaths for decades…not counting unnecessary suffering. And Bubble Butt has three more years.

There's no actual reason to believe that woman voted for Trump 3 times. I mean, maybe, but nothing is reliable, not even close

Other than she said she did, who else might know better how she voted than she?

I understand that in the statement it adds to the impact for her to say that she voted for him three times. If I were in that situation there's no way in hell I'd lie for effect. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt in that she wouldn't want to be labeled a three vote idiot for effect, it doesn't change the point of her original statement.

But who is she? She could be the interviewer's girlfriend for all we know.

We live in an age where you basically cannot trust anyone without corroboration, or unless it's a trusted source.
