I think even Trump, Hegseth, and the other knuckle draggers in this administration realize they've stepped in it at this point.

That is a seriously asynergic grouping.I think even Trump, Hegseth, and the other knuckle draggers in this administration realize they've stepped in it at this point.
Not sure how effective a mining operation in the Strait of Hormuz would be with a pontoon boat. But if we are blowing boats out of the water in the Caribbean, not sure why we wouldn't be doing the same in the Strait. How can Iran possibly mine the Strait right now?
CNN had an article about this, at the tightest point the straight is just 21 miles across. And the channel is only 2 miles wide. So it is vulnerable to shore-based threats, meaning we might have to just bomb the entire coast if we want to our huge vessels safe, and hope that no threats from the "Allies" on the other side pop-up.Not sure how effective a mining operation in the Strait of Hormuz would be with a pontoon boat. I understand how they could use drones and suicide boats. I just don't understand how they could lay mines when that very small space has to be one of the most heavily surveilled spots on the entire globe right now and I'd assume that any boat that doesn't look like it is carrying oil would be prone to be blown out of the water.CNN had an article about this, at the tightest point the straight is just 21 miles across. The Iranian's have spread out their mine-laying and shore assaults across navy and revolutionary guard and _other_. They've got suicide boats that could be harmful to huge ships of ours (destroyers). They have shore-based, mobile missile batteries, and they've got pretty sophisticated "suicide boats" (drones). So in those chokepoints it sounds like we'd need our big guns along with smaller, more nimble craft along with lots of aerial support which is going to be expensive.
I learned a new phrase today: "Sundown Town." I had never heard of the term before. I was familiar with the concept because I grew up in the South and because I lived in Chattanooga, TN for a few years. While the "Sundown Town" of Sand Mountain is not actually located on the geographical feature named Sand Mountain, there were some other listed "Sundown Towns" that were on Sand Mountain. Sand Mountain, the geographical feature, is in Alabama just south of the Chattanooga. And it was widely known among my black co-workers that they would not be welcome on Sand Mountain anytime, especially after dark. Some folks wouldn't even drive through it for fear of breaking down or getting pulled over by local police. But as it turns out avoiding Sand Mountain, either the geographical feature or the town south of Birmingham really isn't that much a burden because they are not on the way to anywhere. This is really coincidental. I went to get a dental cleaning this morning and my hygienist was new to me. She was a nice lady and a good hygienist but maybe a little out there. I've got my mouth open and kind of doing the grunt communication as she talks but she had no problem discussing Trump, recent lynchings in Huntsville, Alabama (I googled, nope), Sundown towns in a suburb of Huntsville, Alabama, and then her contacts in the army (she was a veteran decades back) saying that there were 400 servicemen in hospitals in Germany right now due to the Iran war.
I really didn't think much of it because first of all when the heck does your hygienist talk about politics and because of the lynchings thing but that might be legit.
I joked with someone on Reddit that Trump will just nuke the shores of the strait in th narrowest spot. I hope he’s not that stupid crazy.CNN had an article about this, at the tightest point the straight is just 21 miles across. And the channel is only 2 miles wide. I mean why not? It not like they have anything to lose at this point. Trump stepped in it and has no way out. All the Iranians have to do is threaten the world’s economy and wait. Trump sent them an offer as part of a negotiation and then bombed the meeting the Iranians held to talk it over. Can’t expect the current bunch to negotiate an end to the madness.Reports that Iran is mining the Straight of Hormuz. That....would be extremely bad.
Yeah, this ain't exactly Alexander the Great the Iranians are having to deal with.I mean why not? It not like they have anything to lose at this point. Trump stepped in it and has no way out. What else is he going to do that isn’t going to make the situation worse-all while gas prices hit the roof and the whole world roils? Unless trump is willing to send a million Americans over there with no allies or arm a proxy army, there is no way to dislodge the government.
The Persians invented chess and Donnie struggles to finger paint.
OAPUN BOARDURSYou guys are showing a tremendous amount of ignorance about the ME with your “let Israel go it alone” comments. All common sense neutered due to trump hatred. Probably;y going to blame trump for the terrorist threats we will have to deal with due to Biden / Harris open border years. How much of the billions Biden unfroze and gave back to Iran do you think is left for them to fund sleeper cell terrorists acts?
Alexander the Great??? It’s not even Jimmy the GreekYeah, this ain't exactly Alexander the Great the Iranians are having to deal with.
She lived in the area and commuted through this specific city. I asked her if she ever got pulled over or what and she said no but she never went through at night.I learned a new phrase today: "Sundown Town." I had never heard of the term before.
