Oh, I totally give that benefit of the doubt which is why I say I don't know if he was always that way...but that doesn't change the fact that he does real and lasting damage to our governance right now. I'd make sure he got proper care for his stroke issues after the throat punching. I'm not a savage. Ok, maybe I wouldn't punch him. Can I just hope he slinks off into a dark corner and never returns?

Hear me out on this, but I'm getting the distinct impression that maybe, just maybe, Trump and Hegseth and their minions didn't think all this through very well. Turns out that Iran has enough weapons to put a hurt on US military and civilian installations and our allies in the region. And no regime change beneficial to us is likely to happen. Great going, guys!

I keep coming back to who does this help most? And my biases keep screaming Putin! Now the US and EU are distracted. US munitions are no longer available for transfer to Ukraine via sales to EU and oil revenues skyrocket.

There is some value - and I don’t mean this sarcastically - in getting a real world assessment of Iran’s capabilities and our defense capabilities. That information is probably far more valuable than a $1.1 billion piece of equipment.

Of course, if this turns into a quagmire, the value of that information will run its course. But assuming this goes just months and not years, there will be some significant battlefield intelligence gathered from this conflict.

I fail to see what positive knowledge will come from any of this. All we are learning is that the US military isnt nearly as immune to attack/damage as we have projected.

That is highly valuable information. Especially if we can identify specific vulnerabilities to modern warfare techniques.

To put it in sports terms, Venezuela was Elon and Iran is Boston College. If we are getting gashed up the middle by Boston College, we need to strengthen our weaknesses before taking on Miami.

To be clear, I think the whole war is stupid. But if we are talking about the value of destroyed equipment, it is important to point out the value of information gained, too.
