All true. Much of the Iran problems and benefits are baked in at this point. But, the longer this goes on, the worse it becomes politically. Particularly gas prices.Eh, pretty sure the narrative is already set. People are connecting the dots. Tariffs, oligopoly, wars, sabotage of Obamacare -- they all fit together. They see Trump mocking their affordability concerns. I don't think it will matter much if gas prices settle down by fall. People already see Trump as the enemy of affordability, and by extension the GOP.
Not to mention there's the little problem of the tens of billions that Trump has already spent on this adventure.
I'm not sure anyone could have done more to unite the factions in Iran than was done by this idiocy. I don't see a damned thing we're going to gain. We've sent Americans to their deaths, killed a lot of innocent civilians, spent a shitload of money and lost a lot of international goodwill. Can we say stupid and weak? All true. Much of the Iran problems and benefits are baked in at this point. But, the longer this goes on, the worse it becomes politically. Particularly gas prices.
The only way extended warfare would benefit Trump in any way would be for there to be a successful coup that results in a more moderate government and that seems extremely unlikely at this point.
You know when a schoolyard bully picks a fight with a smaller kid and then the fight does not go at all like the bully expected and the bully quickly yells "TRUCE!" and tries to walk away with a some dignity and machismo left intact? And how sometimes the kid the bully was picking on decides he's not done embarrassing the bully yet?
