Apparently Israel (aka Mossad/Bibi) thought it could 'spur rebellion' in Iran with airstrikes. And Trump believed it. SMH.

You write that as if you think it was a bad idea. Just look at how the United States folded and ceded East Asia and the bordering parts of the Pacific Ocean to Japanese control for a generation. If a good sharp rap on the nose made the US back down in 1941, why wouldn't the same tactic work on Iran in 2026?

This will be the story of this war, I’m afraid. Our idiot commander in chief put all our eggs in the basket of internal uprising without having a plan for that to actually happen. So now we’ve spent billions of dollars, lost American lives, and killed a bunch of Iranian children, and we’ll leave an enraged Iran with an even more extreme government and the ability to restock its military within a matter of weeks or months. All because the man calling the shots is a fucking moron who can’t imagine things might not go his way.

So true. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!

I propose the Trump Doctrine —

Never send the US military into combat when the measure of success is not within the control of the US military.

But who is she? She could be the interviewer's girlfriend for all we know.

We live in an age where you basically cannot trust anyone without corroboration, or unless it's a trusted source.
It was a man on the street interview at a gas station in Millersburg, PA, which is about 20 minutes north of Harrisburg. She talks with a somewhat lower class accent. She is white. The odds are that the vast majority of people in her particular demographic voted for Trump.

Here is the original story.

54 down from 63% and almost half doubt the utility of attacking Lebanon. I'd bet pre-war a large majority of Iranians wanted peace.

I don't blame Joe Israel, Joe Iranian or Joe American or Joe Gazan more than I blame myself, most of us have horrible, failures of leadership.

And just as importantly, in his second term he has successfully surrounded himself with a "royal court" of sycophants and toadies whose main job isn't to be competent or manage their departments and agencies well, but to suck up to him 24/7, constantly tell him how great and brilliant he is, carry out his orders without question right down to his smallest whims, and defend him vigorously on television all the time. And since no one with any talent or self-respect is willing to work under such demeaning conditions, the people around him are mostly incompetent, inexperienced, corrupt, spineless blowhards who never push back on anything, and who in many cases (Patel, Hegseth) are mainly just cosplaying their administrative roles. Which is how we got ourselves into this utterly unnecessary and stupid war from which there seems to be no easy way out, and which is costing us more in lives and gas prices and international reputation by the day. Russia and China must be laughing their asses off at our self-inflicted wounds.

Reports that Qatar, Turkey andE Egypt trying to broker end to war
Nice that we're having to rely on them to end a war that we started. For the sake of our military personnel and Iranian civilians I sincerely hope they are successful, because I have no faith in this administration to find a way to end it.

True - what we have here are three awful, horrible governments making horrible, awful decisions to the detriment of their own peoples and international standing.
