Makes you wonder if Iran has any real interest in winding this down. Seems like they hold the upper hand at least geopolitically.
Yes, they hold the upper hand. The Gulf States are in trouble and they know it. Most likely, the Gulf States will promise Iran yearly rebuilding aid that will go on forever. Yearly ransom tribute for keeping the Gulf open. Of course they won't call it that but will dress it up somehow, And Trump will try to claim victory.

The bright side is that the Gulf States won't go near Trump again and oil prices will permanently remain on the higher side. Might help climate change.

They do have the upper hand because they're only goal is to survive and, in doing so, they will claim victory. No different than Israel attacking Gaza. Hamas might be standing on top of the rubble that was once Gaza, but all they want to be able to do is say "Haha! We're still here! Praise be to Allah!"

The difference is Gaza is the size of Detroit. Iran is twice the size of Texas. We can’t do to Iran what Israel did to Gaza even if we wanted to.

I'll believe that Saudi Arabia is going to fully commit itself to the Iran War when I actually see it. They've been perfectly happy for decades to sit back and allow their US allies and Israel to do all of their dirty work for them against their Middle Eastern rivals like Iraq, Syria, and Iran. Iran has twice their population and a much larger army and has shown a willingness since the Iran/Iraq War in the 1980s to do whatever it takes to survive or win wars, including taking massive casualties. Whatever contributions the Saudis make to any actual fighting are likely to be limited at best. They've got the money to just bribe Iran to let them use the Persian Gulf when we inevitably turn tail and leave them in the lurch (and they know Trump will as soon as he gets the chance, nobody with a brain trusts Trump to honor his promises) so it's unlikely that they'll enter the war full-force.

Let's add Iran to countries that ironically have profited from Trump's War (errrr Bibi's proxy war)...besides of course Russia, China, and Israel.

That's right - Iran is now making over double on oil sales.

What again could possibly go wrong?
