I still want someone to explain why this is not throwing good money after bad. What is the best possible outcome 5 years from now if we win? How about 20? What the hell even is winning?

A regime that has been planning to defend itself for decades, sees straight through Trump, is entrenched within a natural fortress of mountains, isn’t based on a cult of personality (for example Saddam), has 1 million man army and another 100k+ in the hardline IRGC, and is getting stewarded by Russia.

It will take an inside straight flush draw on the river for this to go anything short of a disaster. Or so my old eyes see. Please please let the build up just be an absurdly expensive pressure tactic and not a genuine action plan.

I know they won't for spying reasons, but Iran should let some foreign journalists in to cover the war from their side. Maybe follow the 1979 playbook and stage mass demonstrations to let them film.

There’s no way a mission to seize the uranium succeeds. Stores at two different sites in Iran’s interior, deep underground, requiring a large perimeter to secure and defend, with the facility itself likely being booby trapped and having hundreds of dummy canisters. And if they make it to the site, if they get down to the storage facilities, if they’re able to actually move the stuff… good chance they’re being exposed to radiation. Those poor bastards.
