Would be interested to know if he thinks this war has changed the balance of power in Iran in any way.

JD Vance and his staff are leaking extremely aggressively to make sure you know that he is totally the voice of reason on this whole Iran War that he never wanted in the first place:

I actually think it's probably true that Vance is largely against the war, but IMO his strategy of publicly slobbering Trump on Iran (and everything else) while having his aides leak so that he can distance himself from Trump in his 2028 campaign is a tightrope that he's ultimately going to fail to walk.

Yeah, it's the difference between a soundbite of JD saying it and an unattributed quote in a mag. Not going to work at all.

But honestly, there's no way for JD to separate himself from Trump at this point at all. He's been the bellhop. He's the Trump picked heir apparent, meaning people are going to assume he's basically going to be a continuation.

For the GOP to run a successful candidate in 28, someone will have to emerge from a different corner of the party, one that not been sycophantic to Trump. LOL. Only a RINO can win as a Pub.

A lot of people think that the Iranian regime and Republicans are a lot alike. Sure, they are both full of hardliners who want to force certain religious views on everyone, set their respective countries back decades (if not centuries), embrace authoritarianism, and oppress millions of people within their respective countries, but unlike Republicans, the Iranian regime doesn’t always cower from Trump.

China and Russia are going to invade us once Trump has exhausted all of our missiles.
I’ve thought that for some time. But now I’m not so sure.

Why would they waste time invading an enemy who’s busy imploding and self-destructing, destroying all their alliances and knee-capping themselves at every turn?

Particularly if you’re China—seems more prudent to just stay the course, keep building on the momentum you’ve gotten as a leader in the tech, clean energy, and research sectors, take advantage of the new opportunities to build alliances throughout Africa and the Middle East—and watch the US recede into the background.

I don't think he was serious. Do you seriously think the US is in danger of invasion by China and Russia?

I think we’re at or near our weakest point since WW2, at the very least.

We’ve alienated all our allies. We have an ignorant ass as commander in chief, and a drunken ignorant ass as leader of our military. We have severely depleted our military weapons stock over the past 8 weeks of an unnecessary and inept campaign in Iran. We have shown ourselves to be woefully behind in terms of modern drone warfare.

On top of all that, our current presidential admin has knee-capped our scientific institutions and research capabilities. We’re now the cavemen who want to “roll coal” and hate windmills, who reject medical and scientific expertise, who have ceded all our alliances with countries who can assist us with various rare earth minerals, etc.

We‘ve also hobbled our higher ed system (and k-12 education too). And we’ve hollowed out our middle class and are in the early stages of a bitter class warfare struggle.

We’ve also hollowed out our governmental institutions—Congress is a joke, the SC has no regard for the rule of law or legal precedent, and the president has openly broken the law many times over, without repercussion. We are watching as the guardrails that safeguard our democracy fail.

So yeah, from the standpoint of our enemies, we’re ripe for the picking.

We've reversed 75+ years of Global Security through cooperation and a shared responsibility. The US set the World Order - it was never some kind of Euro plot, but instead to prevent hot world wars. Trump has devalued and debased the office, the United States, it's Constitution, the dollar/currency, and our standing.

And the world's well earned distrust of American is not simply the Trump administration but the American people, who elected this fool twice. It could take a decade or longer to recover trust.

Putin and Xi are ecstatic. They were on the ropes in October 2024.
