Wow. U.A.E. is leaving OPEC so they can ramp up exports because of the price of oil? Now how are they going to export that extra oil? The pipeline to the oil Port outside the Gulf can only handle so much. Most likely they are being pragmatic and cutting a deal with Iran.

This just shows that enough money going to Iran will open the Strait up.
 
Speaking only for myself— I’ve long thought (ie, over the last decade or so) that our current and continuing/advancing state of decline on multiple fronts has made us increasingly susceptible to military attacks from Russia and China.

While I admit that my initial thoughts ran to physical boots/boats combat, I’ve become convinced that that level of intervention likely wouldn’t be necessary in the near term—however, it might become an eventuality as a mode of finalizing the job.
Military attacks? Yes. Attacks involving munitions on Earth? Very doubtful, to put it mildly.
