I don't buy for a minute that Reza can do a thing. Look for a military take over, with more Persian emphasis and less Islamic emphasis. There remains a strong desire for the old heros.

The old school cats have died off but I recall they always referred to themselves as being from Persia, not Iran, when I’d meet them on the streets of Europe back in the mid1980’s. They weren’t down with all that Iran/Ayatollah B.S.

The way the Iranian revolution is described by the author of the graphic novel Persiopolis (who lived through it as a child), is that it originated as s broad based collation of primarily academics and leftists and poor people aginst the excesses of the Shah, And when it first started and the Islamists were really only a small part of it. It's just that when the music stopped, the Islamists were the most organized and had the most guns.

I think it's a pretty good lesson about going around and starting revolutions. Going in, you can never be sure whose going to come out on top once the music stops. More often that not, it's going to be the most ruthless faction with the least scruples about killing their fellow citizens on the name of their cause.
