Maybe the surprise is Trump finally stepping out onto Fifth Avenue and shooting somebody. Seems like the campaign's logical next step.

He's got until 11:59pm Thursday.

Now that is a good ad. It tells you right up front what it's going to do. It's Marc Anthony speaking the truth. None of this Lincoln Project too cool for school shit.

I'm also perpetually amused when Spanish speaking Americans talk in their "regular" English accents and then code switch for Spanish words, like he did here with "Puerto Rico." It's not a bad thing. In this case, it's quite charming actually.

It's always been about racism and bigotry with MAGA. That is the soul of the movement and why Trump has supporters. Sure, some are just idiots, and some are rich and greedy. But the heart and soul of the everyday MAGA follower is racism and bigotry. I wish the Dems had come out and said it every chance they had. These people lost their minds and got scared as crap when Obama was elected twice, when the queer community started getting rights and treated as equals, and when diversity and inclusion became a thing. They are so scared of losing their privilege of just being a straight white Christian. Well, their idea of what a Christian is, which is more like the Pharisees than Jesus. They can't handle change and seeing their control and power slipping away. Hell, even the poorest white person could say at least they ain't black or a Mexican and use their race and sexuality to feel superior to those that weren't white, or straight, or Christian. But they see the bubble they created for themselves to live in cracking, and they can't handle it. So how do they stop it? Go extreme and full blown racist and bigoted. They see the train coming down the track for them and can't handle America changing for the better for anyone different than them because they are scared it means they can't just rely on their color, sexuality and religion to be superior anymore.

And I wish the Dem candidates would come out and say this because it is the truth. This really is a fight for the soul of our country. What kind of person do you want to be? One that moves the country forward, or one that wants to take us back to the 1950s and before, to Jim Crow, to segregation, to Christian nationalism. I just hope there are more of us that want to move forward than there are that are racist and bigoted.

My understanding is that the Lincoln Project, much like George Conway, makes those ads for an audience of one. For all of that, Marc Anthony's ad was powerful.

Quotes from the event

NY Times wen back and did an article with actual quotes from the M(AGA)SG event

  • Mr. Hinchcliffe said: “Cool, Black guy with a thing on his head? What is that, a lampshade? Look at this guy, oh my goodness. Wow. I’m just kidding, that’s one of my buddies. He had a Halloween party last night. We had fun. We carved watermelons together.”
  • Hinchcliffe: “When it comes to Israel and Palestine, we’re all thinking the same thing. Settle your stuff already,” he said. “Best out of three. Rock, paper, scissors. You know the Palestinians, they’re going to throw a rock every time. But you also know the Jews have a hard time throwing that paper, if you know what I’m saying.” He made a motion with his hands to indicate dollar bills.
  • Hinchcliffe: implied that the N.F.L. star Travis Kelce might kill his girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, whom Mr. Trump is angry at for endorsing Ms. Harris. “I think football should be all year round,” Mr. Hinchcliffe said. “So many great athletes. I don’t know about you guys, but I think that Travis Kelce might be the next O.J. Simpson.”

Cont’d

  • Sid Rosenberg: “She is some sick bastard, that Hillary Clinton, huh?” he said. “What a sick son of a bitch. The whole fucking party, a bunch of degenerates, lowlives, Jew-haters and lowlives. Every one of them. Every one of them.”
  • Rosenberg: “You got homeless and veterans, Americans, Americans, sleeping in their own feces on a bench in Central Park,” he said. “But the fucking illegals, they get whatever they want, don’t they?”
  • Grant Cardone: “Her and her pimp handlers will destroy our country.”
  • Cardone: “We need to slaughter this other people.”
  • Stephen Miller: Trump would “stand up and say the cartels are gone, the criminal migrants are gone, the gangs are gone, America is for Americans and Americans only.” (“America for Americans” was a slogan used by the Ku Klux Klan.)
  • Tucker Carlson: “People know, in a country that has been taken over by a leadership class that actually despises them and their values and their history and their culture and their customs, really hates them, to the point that it’s trying to replace them — they know someone who actually has affection for them, and that’s Donald Trump,” he said.
  • Carlson: “It’s going to be pretty hard to look at us and say: ‘You know what, Kamala Harris, she’s just, she got 85 million votes because she’s just so impressive as the first Samoan-Malaysian, low IQ former California prosecutor ever to be elected president,’” he said. “‘It was just a groundswell of popular support, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just a freak or a criminal.’”

nyc, I think you are seriously overestimating the electorate, as well as spineless politicians. CNN interviewed 3 Puerto Ricans living stateside. Two confessed to voting for Trump before. When asked, they said yes, they will vote for him again and do not care. The third was upset, but is a Dem.

AA Trump apologist Byron Donalds blamed the media this morning on CNBC. He said they are pushing a narrative of fear mongering rather than focusing on the facts and substance. This after Trump's so called big final closing argument at MSG, where an African American in the audience was pointed out for a watermelon joke. He won't lose that black guy's vote or many others.

Everyone is saying Trump must apologize or this could be devastating. Hogwash. Give Trump credit, he said before even elected first time, I could go out and shoot someone and not lose a single vote. He was 100% correct. Which is why he has no concerns about not apologizing and he never has anyway.

Unfortunately, a nothingburger with our electorate and cowardly MAGA politicians.

It wouldn’t be the first time but hope springs eternal and all that.
