i dislike this representation of Hegelian dialectic because it implies that the synthesis is right in the middle of the thesis and antithesis, which gives people the opportunity to use it to justify their invocation of the golden mean fallacy.

hegel wrote that there are cases in which a thesis simply dominates or simply cannot stand up to its antithesis, and thus that thesis re-emerges as the synthesis.
