Hamas could have agreed to a deal at any time. Hamas could have released hostages at any time.

There was a ceasefire on October 6, 2023.

I was under the impression, based on feedback from ZZL posters, that Israel was going to drive all Gazans out and Trump was going to turn Gaza into a beach resort city.

Well he is going to be the head of the oversight group so he probably has Jared working on architectural drawings for casinos designed to separate Palestinians from all their wealth.

When I went to look for this thread this morning, I was in total shock and disbelief to find this thread had fallen off the front page. One of the biggest political stories of the last 2 years and just zzlp crickets. My only guess is that they just weren’t aware of what was happening. I thought maybe only Fox News was covering it which is why I felt obliged to post some non fox links as a public service. I know zzlp posters will be happy to read all about what great world leadership the US provided and can feel pride that the US, after 4 years of weak world leadership, is now back on top.

You laughed at the idea that Trump was trying to start a war in the Caribbean, too. Then he admitted he had started a war. You going to learn from your mistakes? Haha, what a question.

One reason that we think Trump wants to turn Gaza into a beach resort is that he specifically said he wanted to do that. Indeed, in the announcement of the plan, he said that he wanted to build a Doha or Abu Dhabi from the rubble.

The biggest tell is that Israel is not being asked to contribute any money to the Gaza cleanup, from what I understand. The money is all investment money coming from outside. Do you think investors and sovereign wealth funds are committing (well, "committing") tens of billions of dollars to create a community for the Palestinian people? Or will they be expecting a return?

I can't speak for other countries, but the US has (almost?) always helped rebuild after a war, haven't they?

Given what Hamas has put Gazans through, and considering the international sentiment on what Gazans have gone through, I don't think it's impossible that Gaza would be rebuilt with no meaningful strings attached.

Clearly, there is no current plan to force Gazans out and the international community would lose its collective mind, rightfully so, if that happened.
