I'm not sure why any pressure will be on Qatar. They are trying to broker a peace treaty and for their trouble they got bombed and one of their citizens got killed. The apology should be because Bibi is a decent human being that realized he made a mistake, stop laughing, but it's really so that Qatar and other countries will stop thinking Israel is a rogue state. Its not some quid pro quo that now that there's an apology for the murder, Qatar needs to pressure Hamas to capitulate.

They aren't going to be able to force Hamas to do anything.

Wow. That is shockingly reasonable. I mean, pie-in-the-sky, but the overall plan seems pretty decent. Way, way, way better than I thought the Trump team could possibly endorse. One wonders if this is DOA in the Knesset, though.

There are some issues with it -- for one thing, nobody will ever accept a Board of Peace chaired by Trump. But this is closer to a two-state solution than I would have possibly imagined.

Not addressed: the cleaning up of the current destruction.

You don't think that was covered by point 10:

10. A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energize Gaza will be created by convening a panel of experts who have helped birth some of the thriving modern miracle cities in the Middle East. Many thoughtful investment proposals and exciting development ideas have been crafted by well-meaning international groups, and will be considered to synthesize the security and governance frameworks to attract and facilitate these investments that will create jobs, opportunity, and hope for future Gaza.

I do not.

Of course, there's going to be a catch: the "development projects" will be luxury condos for the west. There's no way Trump is capable of putting the interests of Gazans at the forefront. But it's a nice sentiment regardless. Like, this is the first Trump-tweet that I could give a thumbs up to in as long as I can remember.

Trump and Netanyahu Tell Hamas to Accept Their Peace Plan, or Else

President Trump said Israel would have a green light to “finish the job” if Hamas refused to agree to the cease-fire deal.

“… If Hamas refuses to do the same, Mr. Trump said, the United States will let Israel “do what you would have to do.”

“Israel would have my full backing to finish the job of destroying the threat of Hamas,” said Mr. Trump, who under the plan would become the temporary chairman of a board in charge of the redevelopment of Gaza.

… The U.S. plan contains provisions that Hamas has said publicly it will not accept, such as its removal from power and disarmament, leaving the proposal’s future uncertain and increasing the possibility that Israel will intensify its military campaign in the enclave, with the full support of the United States.

“When it comes to this plan, no one contacted us, nor were we part of the negotiations around it,” Taher al-Nounou, a senior Hamas official, said in a televised interview….”

“This can be done the easy way, or it can be done the hard way.”…”

Hamas Indicates It Is Open to Trump Peace Plan as It Faces Pressure From Muslim Nations

Militant group has expressed reservations about the terms of the 20-point plan, Arab mediators say

“… The militant group has told mediators it has reservations about some of the terms of the 20-point plan, including the stipulation that it disarm and destroy its weapons, a demand it has previously rejected. Hamas also says that releasing all 48 hostages within 72 hours, as laid out in the Trump plan, would be difficult because it has lost contact in recent weeks with some other militant groups holding a number of them, the mediators said.

Hamas officials, who met with mediators in the Qatari capital Doha on Tuesday, argued that Trump’s plan leaves Palestinians without a credible path to statehood and includes several loopholes that would permit Israel to resume the war. Qatar, Egypt and Turkey have urged Hamas to respond positively to the plan by Wednesday evening local time, the Arab mediators said.…”
