Israel in our Politics

What are your thoughts?
We should no longer provide American taxpayer money to Israel. They have universal healthcare. If they want to continue to fund Iron Dome, then do it themselves or with Israeli influence money.

It used to be that we thought Mossad provided valuable intelligence to us but that no longer seems the case.

AIPAC and Israeli-influence money deleterious to our nation and politics. They are contributing to anti-Semitism, despite their claims of combating anti-Semitism.

Too many of our politicians are influenced by Israeli interests and funding.

Time to tell Israel it won't get our money anymore. If there are mutual intelligence interests, fair enough. No need to de-couple completely, unless they want to should we finally show our weight in this relationship. But no more money to Israel. And any American politician that is funded by AIPAC or other Israeli interests needs to be voted out.

I’m with the line of thinking but I think it’s a bit extreme to cut all funding. I do think it should be more conditional than it seems to be, however.

Like, a genocidal asshole like Netanyahu shouldn’t be able to drag us into bullshit like he has, or make us complicit in genocide… and in a practical sense we have little to no say in their foreign affairs.

They need a serious timeout until Netanyahu is gone and there’s a less bloodthirsty successor in place.

More sucking up and manipulation. Israel's lobbying and paying of US pols has been effective.

Bibi gaslighted Trump and/or has Epstein goods on Trump. Trump is now been painted in a corner despite a massive military but not strategic advantage...fighting a fight Trump never could explain, manage or frankly understand.

Sun Tzu is probably what Trump thought occurs when looking at a solar eclipse.

F our lives.

Maybe Israel could rebuild America...

Can you help me out with why it is extreme to cut all funding? What makes Israel an ally in any sense at this point? I am asking genuinely. I know I have become poisoned on them as a nation at this point, but I welcome someone talking me off that ledge.

Hell, at this point, there are only two nations on earth I would support a military action to assassinate their leadership...Israel and Russia. So I fully admit my radical stance.

We don't generally arbitrarily give Israel money. We give Israel military aid. Most of that aid is used to buy US made military equipment. The United States and Israel also co-develop military technology. This is technology that both countries utilize and deploy. So, I'm not sure there is a clear understand what "cut off" would mean in this situation. Israel is our closest ally in the region. Abandoning that relationship would open paths for both China and Russia to gain a stronger foothold in the region. There are a number of ways the USA benefits from this relationship even as their leadership pushes the country further down the path of authoritarianism.

There are plenty of world leaders who deserve your ire as much as Putin and Netanyahu. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is overseeing an actual genocide. Xi has spent the majority of his reign ethnically cleansing Tibet and Xinjiang. Min Aung Hlaing has probably engaged in ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Rohingya. The USA has a hand in some of these...actively funding sources and countries that have contributed to the genocide in Sudan and fostering a continued relationship with China that emboldens Xi. The USA has contributed far more to China's largess than any 3 billion in mutually beneficial military aid to Israel.

I'm not excusing Netanyahu and his coalition of right wing lunatics. They have done more to hurt Israel over the last 15 years than any campus protest in New York.

Israel is currently costing us $2 billion daily in addition to the Neverending cost of trying to protect against the inevitable terrorist reprisals that come from this mess. And yes, I attribute our participation in this war to Israel. Trump is stupid and vain but he had to be led to this by Israel.

I hear you on genocide and my empathy is with those people. I wish we could help them all. I am.most centrally worried about the US and I do not view Israel as an ally of any sort. We do not have allies in the Middle East. Nobody does. It is a wretched sore spot of Neverending battle that is best left alone by the rest of the world.
