Sleeper cell implies they’ve been here for years. Easily could have been in Trump’s first term. There would have been far more motivation to insert sleepers with a bloviating, anti-Muslim president in office.

I'm still catching up on the thread from being on vacation until today and passing out before the time I usually read the board, but this idea that Iran moved the enriched uranium because they were tipped of to our attacks seems farcical. They are already in a war with Israel, Isreal was publicly asking us to bomb their nuclear facilities, and the entire world knows exactly where they are. But they were just going to let 900 pounds of uranium sit there until they got "tipped off" of our attacks. And the reason I point out that it was 900 pounds, is that me and 3 other guys moved a 900 pound sofa up two flights of stairs last week. I'm pretty sure they were already gonna put that stuff in the back of the pickup truck and move it to a tunnel somewhere. That's 18 suitcases, barely more than my wife packed for vacation last week.

I also think it's ridiculous that people are saying they were actually playing nice and letting the whole world know every single plan regarding to their nuclear capabilities before this. That little show may be over now, but that's all it was, a big show. This is the most evil regime in the entire world but they were playing above board on their nuclear capabilities??? That's just naive.

No, I won't be looking to assign blame. I'll be lamenting the fact that Americans are dead. As for how someone "got here", my guess would be on an airplane with valid travel documentation...the way the vast majority of people arrive in this country daily.

The stupidest thing about this now is that we've already bombed them, it's absolutely clear they have zero air defense and about 6 missiles left, and we're now working out a plan to let the deadliest regime in the world stay in power. They actively sponsor terrorism all over the world. Hamas and Hezbollah are basically branches of their government. The vast majority of the country despises the regime. No other country in the world seems to give a fuck that they're under attack. So maybe like, weaken them to the point that some other regime can take over whose entire goal is not to kill Americans and Jews. Someone has needed to take a flyswatter to these motherfuckers for 40 years, and we do this but let blatant terrorists continue to rule the country?? What in the actual fuck?

ETA: This whole cease fire thing smells like a rat.

I look forward to your advice on how to convince my ex and her work colleagues that the sky isn’t falling and that we still have a functioning democracy when they’re being accused of crimes against the state just for doing their jobs.

OK maybe it was 775. But the point is it's not hard to move 900 pounds of anything, so any idea that all this enriched uranium was just going to be sitting where the entire world knew it was until Iran got "tipped off" seems pretty ridiculous to me. I just listened to three hours of news on the way home from the beach and this war was the only thing discussed the entire time. Some of the stuff being thrown around is pretty far fetched. I hate Trump but I remain open to the possibility of a blind squirrel finding a nut here. I'm also open to the possibility this was a big mistake but those arguments shouldn't make fellow liberals facepalm.

Another argument being made on the news was that Iran was going to close the Strait of Hormuz and wreak havoc on the world. Some of my prepper cousins could probably take control of that strait right now and open it back up.

Oh God. For real, dude? Transporting enriched, near-weapons grade uranium is like carrying a sofa?

I have no idea whether Trump tipped them off nor do I care. I'm just flabbergasted at the thought process here. Maybe it's sarcastic.

Everyone is posturing right now but if Iran escalates much more and fails to negotiate a cease fire the current regime could easily be out of power by the end of the week. Israel is just flying planes over Tehran unabated. Iran has nothing left. The current regime has to know that if they do anything to Americans their reign is over immediately.
