Israel launches attack on Iran | US bombs Iran nuke sites

This is so freaking annoying.

1. The truth is it will be a while before we know for sure what impact the bombing had on Iran's nuclear timeline.
2. Trump and Hegseth are the ONLY ones who have been making definitive statements about the impact, which are definitionally premature.
3. CNN and the NYT were only reporting on an initial assessment from Trump's own intelligence team.
4. Trump's defensiveness about this and his desire to confirm what he wants to be true is causing us to release a vast amount of extremely sensitive information that never should be disclosed to the public.

In short, I continue to hope Iran's military-based nuclear program was set back for years. I'm concerned about the initial assessments that it was not. But regardless of that, Trump and Hegseth continue to violate their duties to the American people and compromise our security unnecessarily on a daily basis, all for the sake of vanity.

US, European intel clashes over damage to Iran’s nuclear program

“… A leaked Defense Intelligence Agency report had suggested the US strikes set back Tehran’s ambitions by only a few months, but the CIA on Wednesday said more up-to-date intelligence indicated key facilities were destroyed and would take years to rebuild.

Meanwhile, a preliminary intelligence assessment provided to European governments suggested that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile was not concentrated in Fordo, and had been distributed to other locations ahead of the US strikes, the Financial Times reported.…”

During the Biden Administration, US Intel proved repeatedly that it was FAR superior to a lot of European intel with respect to Russia/Ukraine and to a lesser extent regarding the Middle East. Who knows now …

Assuming that CIA analysis is as fishy as it seems, this is problematic to say the least. The people in the intelligence committees need to know the truth so that they can make good decisions. Hiding the true results out of pride is a dangerous game.

Even if Iran wasn't on the fast track to get nukes before this, they certainly are now.
