One reason I stopped being a member of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in Vermont, Upstate NY, and Maine was excessive amounts of Swiss chard, kale, zucchini, and squash.
One reason I stopped being in a CSA in Chapel Hill/Carrboro is excessive amounts of okra and zucchini.
You can’t provide enough tomatoes, little tomatoes, or cukes.
The primary reason I’ve stopped with CSA’s is that the premise is rarely honored……if I invest $500 in your farm in January and it’s a shitty season, I might only get <$400 in veggies……10-12 years ago, I might get $1,000-1,200 in a good season…….today…..if I invest $500 in January, I might get $525 over the season in a really good year.
Get $300 in a bad year and $525 In a great year is wrong.
