Possibly less funny if you know they first arrested counter protesters and only arrested him when he wouldn’t back down.

“… Lawmakers slipped a resolution into a rule on the House floor that would establish the controversial subcommittee, which is likely to be headed by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Georgia). Republicans have complained that the previous probe was biased against President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly denied he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden….”

Please let Comer or a similar idiot run this.

“… total of eight members to be appointed by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) and not more than three to be appointed “in consultation” with the Democratic minority. The committee is “authorized and directed to conduct a full and complete investigation” of the events on Jan. 6 in which a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol to prevent the certification of Biden’s election.…

The subcommittee, Johnson said, is intended to “uncover the full truth that is owed to the American people. House Republicans remain intent on delivering the answers that House Democrats skipped over.”…”

Why....WHY do Republicans want to keep this alive? This is probably the most embarrassing event for Republicans in my life time and they just keep resuscitating it.

The Republican J6 Revisionist History (Sub)committee

Because Trump demands that he be publicly "exonerated" and it's a test of fealty by Pubs that they go along with it.

They also want the opportunity to try to rewrite the history of event to excuse Trump's role and focus on what Dems and the "Deep State" did.

Another attempt to keep Epstein buried and dead. But he's still alive. Mike Johnson wants all the cable and network news organizations to focus 100% of their attention on the new J6 subcommittee to lend it some gravitas. But it won't happen. It's a big nothing burger and won't gain any traction but for one, very short 24 hour news cycle.

It’s hyper-important to the base AND supposed “Independents” and “moderates” either don’t give a shit OR support the J6 criminals and Trump.

Because it’s less problematic than Epstein. The child trafficker in chief literally had fighter jets Sonic boom downtown DC yesterday to try to disrupt the victims’ press conference.

Tens of thousands of Epstein-related records from DOJ released, Oversight Committee says

Over 33,000 pages of Epstein-related records were released, the committee said.

But they mostly released the same stuff already released (only about 3% is new and apparently the large page total is padded by including multiple copies of the same previously released documents).

They are basically trying the sleight of hand that failed for the DOJ earlier this year with their much publicized release of information already in the public domain as an act of extreme transparency, when it was just performative transparency meant to get people to stop asking for actual transparency.

This is something the Trump administration has seriously bungled and then the idiot Comer jumped in to see if he could help make it worse with a Congressional “investigation” that has kept the whole thing alive and reinvigorated it when Congress came back in session after Trump thought he had put this particular wildfire out with a firehose of other news and distractions in August (which is usually a very quiet political news month).

They will continue to re-release materials and withhold the complete files. It's the only way to sell an appearance of transparency. The propaganda machine will claim that thousands of pages have been released and nothing incriminating found, confirming that Trump's involvement is a "Democrat hoax". The only thing that is transparent is that there is an ongoing cover-up.

This is the correct answer.

“… Johnson appointed Rep. Barry Loudermilk (Georgia) to lead the committee. Reps. Morgan Griffith (Virginia), Clay Higgins (Louisiana), Troy E. Nehls (Texas) and Harriet Hageman (Wyoming) will also serve on the eight-member committee.

The five Republicans will join three Democrats who were named to the committee earlier this week: Reps. Eric Swalwell (California), Jared Moskowitz (Florida) and Jasmine Crockett (Texas). Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) will serve as an ex officio member.…”
