Wow. Never been a smoker but that looks like a lot of ashtrays I saw as a kid. Crazy.

How much time did you spend there?

The exhibit was just a single room. I spent between an hour and a half and two hours. Daughter ended up having to rush to an audition so she didn’t meet me there (Fingers crossed - were hitting The Native American Museum tomorrow). I wouldn’t have had as much time if I hadn’t been alone.

Upscale area...couldn't even find a slice place nearby.
Nah any pizza around there would be sit-down. You’d have needed to head over to 1st Ave for the slices — Brooklyn, Sofia, Marinara, Best Pizza… some very solid spots around there.

Hopefully I’ll get to check it out next week.

Well I’m not a country guy in the least, so I know his name but that’s literally it. Sounds like the kind of guy who will do the right things and make it publicly available, though.

Sounds very encouraging from the article, what he’s doing with the church in Lowell. I had a pilgrimage to Lowell in my 20’s and hit a bunch of spots — birthplace home on Lupine, a couple other homes he lived in, ball fields, Kerouac Park with monuments, and his gravesite. Missed the church though.

BTW, Kerouac mentions getting "stuck" in Sanford, North Carlolina in this letter.
