James Van Der Beek Dies at 48, Cancer

I didn't have trouble consuming the liquid, I didn't have any hungers problems. So my least fav part was pooping (if you want to call it that) at midnite, 1 am, 2am, 3am, and 4am, then maybe again at 6am or 7. I had an 8 or 9am procedure.

Are there late afternoon procedures? If so, i wonder if that would be better for maximizing sleep.

Had my first colonoscopy last year. Was dreading the prep. Honestly it wasn't that bad. I mixed miralax with gatorade. I will say that the nap I took when I got home was one of the best bouts of sleep I've ever had in my life. I stronly urge my fellow ZZLP's to get tested early. It's not that bad at all. It might just save your f'n life.

RIP, Mox. 😥

My meal after was one of the best ever!

What are the earliest symptoms of colon cancer?

In a 2023 interview with People magazine, Van Der Beek shared that his first symptoms were changes in his bowel movements, which he noticed in the summer of 2023, when he was 46.

He initially thought they were caused by drinking coffee, but the issues persisted. That is when he asked his doctor about undergoing a colonoscopy, which revealed the actor had Stage 3 colon cancer.

Research has found that there are four distinct symptoms that can appear up to two years before a diagnosis:

Abdominal pain.
Rectal bleeding.
Ongoing diarrhea.
Iron deficiency anemia. Anemia is usually found in yearly blood tests.

So the GoFundMe set up after his death is up to 2.5 million to support his wife and kids, but they bought a nearly 5 million dollar ranch in the weeks before his death, and still own a 4 million dollar home that is rented out in California.
My wife was worked up about his death, and not in a mournful way. She had an unpleasant experience with him here in Wilmington. Plus, he was supposedly anti vax and she mentioned them setting up a GoFundMe despite their multi million dollar real estate portfolio. I agree the last part is pretty shitty if them.

I mourn his loss for his children losing their dad and the rest of his loved ones loss. And cancer is such a horrible disease.

As for the colonoscopy discussion, I am surprised how many of you dont mind it. I am not a fan, but it is not as bad as some make it out to be. I just had mine in the fall and have to do it again within 3 years. 😕
