I am uncomfortable with the USA playing "leverage " games with NATO . We are Allies. I get the "angle" MAGAs like..I don't like it.....
I’m not crazy about it either. To me you have to start softer and ramp up from there. You don’t start at defcon 1

Here we go.
Hope callatory likes these policies
Well this wasn’t very nice of some EU leader

“The leader, I forget exactly which official it was within the European Union, but sent Elon this threatening letter that basically said, ‘We’re going to arrest you if you platform Donald Trump,’ who, by the way, is the likely next president of the United States,” Vance said in the interview published last week.

Trump’s running mate then suggested that US support for NATO should be used as a cudgel to get the Europeans in line.

Do you agree trump is very likely to start at Defcon High
I do. I think he always does. His style is to threaten which even when resulting in an agreement leaves a bad taste in the other’s mouth. However he never seems to do it unless he has overwhelming leverage. iMO, not the right approach. Hoping Vance will be the adult in the room.

“Congress passed legislation according to which you cannot leave NATO without the consent of Congress,” former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in an interview on Wednesday. “And during my visit to U.S. Congress, I have seen a very strong bipartisan support for NATO, staying in NATO. Obviously, a U.S. president can, as a commander in chief, make life difficult for NATO, but to see the U.S. leave NATO? No.”
