Jesse Welles

Thanks @ChileG - he’s pretty remarkable, and crazy prolific.

ETA: I’m not anywhere close to being a folky but he’s gotten under my skin.

Dude can shred if called upon

I hadn't seen him play solos like that - with Cosmic American - man can definitely play, that's for sure.
But I figured he knew his way around the guitar just watching him playing those songs in the field videos... considering the way he handles those "cowboy chords". You can tell from just that he knows his way around the instrument.

Check out the picking pattern for Siddhartha above, his chops are no joke.

I’ve been a follower since the early days- “Walmart” was the first one I’ve heard but “Bugs” is probably my favorite. He also put out a song basically calling for empathy toward Charlie Kirk very soon after he was killed, which pissed off many of his more leftist fans (according to the Instagram comments, at least):

The freedom to speak and be a freak
And the freedom to say you hate it

Yes, I think people could watch him playing those folk songs and not see how difficult what he is playing actually is.
The shredding stuff is easier (imo).

I mentioned that I “learned” three of his songs. But I can’t play them the way he does.

My nephew should be here Thursday and he is a really good guitar player.
Gonna grab two acoustics, hand him one, tell him we are playing in G for the first song, and it will be Bugs.
I think that will be a fun song to get started on, and should sound good with someone just improvising on the melody.
