Yes Karl, “religion is the opium of the people”.
And, I feel Jesus would not want to be associated with Christianity. Its history is filled with pure evil.

Studies show conservatives are more charitable with their money than liberals. Conservatives back up the talk, liberals need big brother and leviathan govt to coerce people to give.
Conservatives and liberals are equally likely to fund local causes, but liberals are more apt to also donate to national and global groups – new research shows

When you're talking about benefits like health care, big brother is the only way to go. If every person/family could afford to pay out of pocket, then there would be no need to go to government. Unfortunately most of us need help.

Just a wild guess but I'm gonna imagine these purported "studies" count tithes as charitable giving. If one removes religious tithing, what do those results look like?

Great movie about religion et.al. On Amazon Prime now called “Heretic” starring Hugh Grant as this really evil dude.

Its tough to try and put "today" labels on someone that lived 2000 years ago
But I gotta think Jesus would not like eliminating Medicaid for example

Jesus thought healing was rubbing spit and mud on people's eyes. I guess that could be construed to mean that he cares about medical care, but I think we'd be better off if we stopped considering his perspective as relevant w/r/t an enormous number of modern issues.

The poles have flipped multiple times.

Russophilia, anti-world order, and pro-tariffs were former bastions of the far left.
The far left never loved Russia. Way back they liked the Soviet Union, which is different. Minor quibble, not important, carry on.

I get into this argument with conservatives all the time. Jesus Christ was as liberal as it gets.

It's hard for me to think of even one conservative political principle that Jesus espoused.

If we had to assign him a political party, it would obviously be liberal. The people in this country who best understand his gospel message are black people.

Only male hebrews had the possibility of release after 6 years. But if their master tricked them into taking a wife, then the only way for the slave to stay with his wife and children would be to pierce his ear and become his master's property forever. The wife and children would stay with the master too of course.

On the other hand, hebrew fathers could sell their daughters into slavery forever. Humans as property.
And non-hebrews who were forced into slavery were the same way. They become the property of their masters forever, to be passed down. They could be bought from foreigners, kidnapped, taken as slaves after war, etc.

These are the laws of Moses that Jesus said should be followed. I have better morality than that Jesus.

lol...that post is so bizarre it borders on incoherent. At best it represents an extraordinarily tendentious and simple-minded view of "the law of Moses," both with respect to Jesus himself and to ancient Judaism in general.

I don't know if it counts as a political principle, but wasn't Jesus against divorce? Granted, I have some vague memory that there is a more complex take on how divorced women were getting screwed over in Judean society.

I'd say that Jesus's end-of-the-world apocalypticism has transformed into far-right burn-it-down accelerationism. Granted, he had some vague sense of a coming restoration. I don't know what these contemporary nutjobs expect.
