"Jim Beam" Halts Production, Drinking Drops to 80 Year Low

especially true with vodka, which should not taste at all. Still, there's a crowd that will demand Tito's or some other brand at the bar and you can give them just about anything and they will not know.

about 5 years ago, I was at a vodka "tasting" in North Hills. Absurd.
Oh they will know later in the night or next morning. As the usual poor undergrad at UNC back in the day, we snuck Vladimere or Popov into Kenan. $5 a bottle and $100 worth of pain to the porcelain god. Ugggh. I couldn't drink vodka again until my 30s.

Hard to believe that in the 80s I was paying less than 12 dollars a fifth for the 107
One reason that alcohol sales are down is cheap cannabis. My brother lives in the Detroit area; I visit him maybe twice a year and bring back a six month supply. Which costs like $40. I don't use too regularly, so maybe 6 months for me is less for other people. But the prices are nuts. 1g vaping cartridges for less than $10. Pack of 10 200mg gummies for around $10-12. All the dispensaries have giveaways when you make your first purchase -- often a free preroll or 1/8. I don't use bud, so I don't know exactly how much that is, but I do know that a case of shitty beer costs $20-$22. If you're looking for a buzz, alcohol is WAY more expensive than weed.

Only problem is that you need a MI driver's license to buy. But if you have family or friends who can buy for you, it's a gold mine.

No you don't. Before weed was legal in Ohio, there was a steady stream of traffic headed up from Toledo to buy in Michigan. The dispensaries in Monroe would have been out of business if a MI license was required to buy weed. And the pricing in Michigan keeps Ohio dispensaries honest.

Who can buy weed in Michigan?

There's an online special right now for a quarter pound of THCA bud at 200 dollars. You can get 99+% pure THCA diamonds for 22.50 for 5 grams. No shipping on orders over 100 dollars. I definitely know what you mean.

Check the second post on the thread in case you think I didn't.

Ha! I heard either a Planet Money or Freakonomics (can't remember which) podcast on thet very subject. I think they even created their own "brand" to get some from MGP and had people taste test against Tito etc. No difference.

I wasn't really responding to you so much as offering it as a general observation. You have almost certainly forgotten more about rec drug use than I ever knew. I wouldn't even think about pretending that we're peers on the subject. For instance, I don't know what that THCA stuff even is.

THCA vs THC: What Is The Difference? | ATLRx
THCA (Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the non-intoxicating, acidic precursor to THC found in raw cannabis, converting to psychoactive Delta-9 THC when heated (decarboxylated) by smoking or vaping, offering potential anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea benefits in its raw form, while its legality hinges on hemp laws (below 0.3% Delta-9 THC).

Selfishly, the ability to get better, rarer bourbon has been nice. Unicorns have been getting easier to locate.
Yep. I've passed on a couple of Blanton's and plenty of Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare lately. I did stumble upon an EH Taylor Barrel Proof in Orange County right before Christmas, though. That's the only unicorn-ish bottle I've ever come across in NC.
