I have used this site and it works. I found an old savings account in my wife's name in a town where we formerly lived with a bank we had accounts with. Initially, it was puzzling, but the memories soon came rolling back. My wife got about $300 or $400 out of the blue and decided to just save it. And, unfortunately, I also remembered her words from back then - "I'm just going to stick this money in a savings account and forget about it." In NC if there is absolute zero activity on it for X years they have to turn it over to the state. And it's not that many years because I got a notice from a job I had less than 5 years ago they were gonna turn it over unless I called and said I wanted to keep it. It's probably on the NC unclaimed funds website if he lives in NC.
