Luka smokin em

I believe that Coach Frederick still holds the record at four minutes and 36 seconds. Wonder if it runs in the family.

Whats the old story about Freshmen Phil Ford Doing it ? It was a cinder track then, and Ford dove at the finish line-[ike ouch.
Smith turns to Gut "I think we have a competitor here."

Reminds me of when Coach Guthridge watched Steve Hale at Howard Garfinkel’s old Five Star Camp in Pittsburgh.

Hale was diving for loose balls. On outdoor concrete or asphalt courts.

4:36 for a non-track guy is FLYING.

That’s 1:09 per 400 meters. Four times without a break.

Who remembers the Cooper Test? IIRC, the minimum was 1.5 miles in 12 minutes.

I remember some of the guys on the Chapel Hill High School soccer team sweating the Cooper Test.

I swam. For some reason, our coach had had us running 2 miles on Tuesdays and Thursdays before practice from when I was 14-18. Running wasn’t popular among swimmers. They hated it.

I was a practice nerd by age 13. I did each set 100%; so, I ran those two miles with purpose. By 15, I could run two miles in 12 minutes. A Cooper Test seemed easy - especially for a sport like soccer that entails A LOT of running.

My tennis team coach made us two miles in less than 13 minutes…doable for in shape guys, but certainly not a fun day

Yeah……tennis players are on their feet and moving A LOT for what? 75-90 minutes in a best of 3 match? Practice is likely 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Running two miles for time is another beast!
